The Whole Love must be a good record if a Being There thread is turning into another Whole Love thread.

"Hey, we'll interview you.. It'll be great publicity! But yeah... the album review.. not so great publicity.. " Tacky indeed.
-
For some reason it reminds me a little of Candyfloss. A much better tune though. Love when it kicks in at the beginning..

Interesting, I've never heard of anyone not liking California Stars. That's a first.
-
“If anybody wanted to model themselves after us, they better be fucking be patient” Better be fucking be? Either Jeff is losing it or it's another example of lazy, sloppy editing..
-
Pink Floyd was the first thing that came to mind when I heard it. Not a particular album, just Pink Floyd in general.
-
Yeah it's a REALLY fun tune and I would love to hear it live sometime. It's very Spiders.. Almost too much, but that's not a bad thing.
-
I've never heard of a "Shepherd's progression". A musical term for it could just simply be a descending progression or a descending chromatic progression.
-
If that's the case, the rest must not be very good.. I Love My Label is a decent tune, but just kind of corny and cliche.. Some cool instrumental stuff going on though, especially by Glen if I recall correctly.

Will we see Wilco as musical guest on SNL this fall?
lamradio replied to pathfire's topic in Just A Fan
I just hope they don't schedule any concerts in Charleston, SC around that date if they do. -
It's similar to that but I think it's the model with the plastic stirrer, so it bends back and forth. For some reason that gas powered dildo from The Naked Gun just popped in my head. The stirrer will vibrate back and forth on the strings creating a constant sound.. Combine that with lots of distortion and feedback and you have your Nels Noise.
-
It's an battery-powered drink stirrer. If you really want to do some geeking out, check out this site: http://www.nelscline.com/tech.html I think it's a little outdated as he's aquired more toys since then, but it's still a very cool site for us gear geeks.

Same here. Although I've known several people over the years that just miss shows for one reason or another. Not to bash these people, but come on.. Find a way to go to the damn show! I know there are emergencies etc., but any other reason is just unacceptable IMO.

The scalpers will just start selling credit cards. "Ticket validated credit card.. Hundred bucks".
-
I think ditty would pass.
-
I think so.

I just don't know how they gave WTA a higher score.... It got a 7.4... Really?
-
I think it's career defining as in Wilco still has a career. When they released WTA, that career was fading fast. They're back baby.

Interview with producer/engineer Tom Schick
lamradio replied to Albert Tatlock's topic in Just A Fan
Nice. As a recording "engineer" myself, it's always inspiring to read this kind of stuff. Thanks for posting. -

Could you imagine a rugby match where someone put PCP in both of teams water supply...

Interview: Bob Ludwig: Mastering Engineer of The Whole Love
lamradio replied to choo-choo-charlie's topic in Just A Fan
Yeah, I've never understood why albums have to be mastered to be so freaking loud. If it's not loud enough, just turn it up on your stereo! A little EQ, maybe a little compression and you're good to go. -
The Whole Love: Speculation and (eventual) reactions
lamradio replied to Al.Ducts's topic in Just A Fan
All of this talk about track lists and sides and stuff.. Get with the 21st century people. In itunes, there are no sides.... -
Band lead singers you met? Friendly, not friendly? Impressions?
lamradio replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
That's awesome.
