  1. Thanks Maddie. Great info! The Warehouse sounds like a winner. But we'll have to stay away from that Candy store at least until after the show, or my kids will be swinging from the chandelier.
  2. Absolutely! My five year old can toss 'em back with the best of 'em. kidding of course..
  3. Yeah my kids are 5 and 6. It might get a little interesting with them sitting in one spot for 2 hours, but they love music and Wilco, so I'm interested to see how they react. Tailgating would be cool.. We've thought about doing that, but have to carry-on the tradition of finding the best brews in town.
  4. Reminds me of a similar scene in Platoon. At least I think it was Platoon. No beheading, but schlong was definitely in mouth.
  5. Were staying at the Thunderbird Inn. I wasn't sure about it at first, but it has gotten great reviews. Supposedly it's a "60's retro motel". I've heard great things about Moon River Brewing Co. Unless another place catches our eye, that's where we'll be before the show. They had me at this: Skunk-Ape Stout
  6. Yeah, it's good quality but it's just kind of dirty sounding. Especially on certain songs the drums are drowned out by the guitars. But again, I think it fits their sound. They sounded the same live... Loud and dirty.
  7. Wise choice. Ha, I sound like I'm on their street team or something, but it really is a good album. I love the recording quality too. It's very raw (some would even say bad), but it fits them perfectly.
  8. Cool! Look for the late 20's couple with the two little boys. Their first Wilco show. Yes were brave for taking them but it'll be a great educational experience for them.
  9. So who's going to Savannah? The fam and I will more than likely be at the Moon River Brewing Co. prior to the show.
  10. I can't stop listening to these guys: It's not your typical "surf rock". They sort of have a Weezer, Indie pop sound. Mix that with the surf style guitar leads, and these guys are just awesome.. I had the pleasure of seeing them at a VERY small club in Charlotte last month. It was probably one of the loudest shows I've been to. Completely melted my face off. Definitely give these guys a listen.
  11. Awesome Pop Todd. I'll be sure to pick up a copy.
  12. New tune "Stranger". http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2010/03/09/hear-dr-dogs-new-stranger-from-april-lp-shame-shame/
  13. Yes, the dissonance (although hard on the ears) is what makes via Chicago brilliant. I remember watching a video of them performing it live (think it was ACL) with my Dad. When that part came up, he was like "what's going on? is it supposed to be like that?". I have been influenced by Wilco's use of dissonance in my own music... If used right, it can be awesome.. But if used too much it's no longer music, just noise.. Still yet to see them play VC live, and I've seen them 3 times in the last two years... Hopefully they'll play it in Savannah.
  14. Loved the Makers Mark. A little stronger than the Jack, but it was great on the rocks with a couple drops of water. Might be my new favorite bourbon.
  15. Thanks for posting these updates RainDogToo. I never get the Dr. Dog emails, even though I've joined their mailing list 3 times. Keep em coming. And I can't wait to hear the new single today.
  16. The majority of the new tunes they played in Asheville were pretty mellow and slow, very country.. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I also want the rocking tunes. I'm sure they'll deliver.
  17. Awesome. I was wondering when they were going to announce the release date. They talked about it a lot at their Asheville show back in June, and played a lot of new tunes.. The tunes were more country than Rock, but great stuff.
  18. Same here. SBS is a brilliant record. It's one of those records that just has that certain flow to it. I think it has to do with the production quality, the flow of the songs, and the overall mood. It just feels like an "album" instead of a collection of songs, if that makes any sense.... WTA feels like a collection of songs, most of them not so good...
  19. I think I saw this film behind the curtain at my local video store.. Except the cover had naked chicks on it.
  20. I'm sure the Wilco's are flattered. I wonder if they've gone there yet. They pretty much have to..
  21. Nothing hotter than a woman smoking a cigar. Even if it is a big burly hockey player chick...
  22. See that's what I love about this forum. I've never really listened to much of the Kinks. I see this thread and I think "I've been wanting to grab some new tunes. I'll grab Village Green"..... It's excellent!! Happy, upbeat, kind of trippy, just what I need when I'm stuck at work on a Sunday.
  23. This. I snapped this shot from the summit of Little Round Top, Gettysburg, PA.
  24. Wilco is my all time favorite band, but Dr. Dog is a VERY close second.
  25. Hey, I was going to start this thread! John and Yoko "You & I" all the way..
