  1. No, I just merged you into this thread where we are talking exactly about what you posted. Welcome to the forum. You are new poster with an opinion, so state it here, if you don't mind.
  2. Ah - merge is a better choice. thanks Oblivious.
  3. We are talking a bit over in the other forum about Califone's last show of the tour coming up this Saturday in Washington DC ... but I thought just in case some of you east-coasters were not aware of the tail end of this tour, here's a nudge. They are being joined on stage by 3 members of The Bitter Tears (opening band) on horns, and it is really a beautiful addition to the live show. If any of you Wilco fans are lamenting the YHF/O'Rourke sound -- you really should check out Califone. Who loves Califone? Glenn Kotche, since back in the Red Red Meat days, he told me (and LouieB a
  4. I'm sorry you had to make a choice, I know it must have been tough but at least you get to see the final show (I'm not counting Pitchfork because that'll probably be only 45 minutes, and that's not enough Califone time for me). I really need to get over to Pastrysharp and post some setlists -- I also saw them in Madison and Milwaukee 2 weeks ago, with The Pabst show in Milwaukee being the best ... Califone ... show ... ever. and at this point I've seen them maybe 10 times since Roots & Crowns. Seriously, yes! It's the last show!!! Oh, now I want to go really really ba
  5. Theshua, there are 5000-some registered members at VC, and just a handful are upset about this. They are a very vocal minority, and for the most part are presenting their opinions well. It is a good topic and most of it is interesting reading. How you took that to be "Via Chicago being collectively upset about this" -- I'm not sure. It's a total non-issue to me personally because I don't watch much TV, I'm not affected by Wilco's decision to let VW use their songs as background music for their ads, and I still love Wilco and the new album. The songs will still be there for me tomorrow
  6. Everyone in the area should try to see this show if they can. I just saw Califone twice last weekend ... absolutely stunning shows. DC is just a little too far out of my road-trip realm although don't think I didn't consider it. I love this band so ... damn ... much. The opening act "The Bitter Tears" from Chicago are a kitchy bunch of great songwriters, a bit campy but that's their gimmick. HOWEVER --- when 3 of the Bitter Tears guys join Califone for quite a few songs (4 or 5 songs in Cleveland) and add trumpet, clarinet, and trombone and other noisemakers .... it is something gor
  7. Silver Heels Fleetwood Mac (written by Bob Welch, on Heroes are Hard to Find) She came in like a hurricane Wearing boots and diamond rings With a fox fur on her shoulder She set wondering And I could tell she was feeling abandoned Because she flashed a look across my way She said hop for a ride You'll never ask me but I'll tell you anyway She took me out on the blackboard jungle Put me straight in a hurricane She hypnotized my eyes with her silver heeled ways If I could sing like Paul McCartney, or get funky like Etta James I'd never change, I'd never change, I'd never change silver hee
  8. no, it's not true. Another man named Jeff Tweedy is (or was) executive vice president of Sean John, the New York-based apparel company run by P. Diddy.
  9. Sounds terrific! I know the last job has been getting you down, so congrats on the transfer! That has to be so exciting for you!
  10. I never watched enough Scrubs mainly because I don't watch much TV. But when I saw it, I liked it. So now that I'm on board (temporarily anyway) with Blockbuster's home program, I have ordered up the early seasons on DVD and have been thoroughly enjoying them. It is really well done. I love when JD goes off on his fantasy scenes. My favorite episode so far has been the one with Colin Hay. I'm ready for season 4 now.
  11. Just got two reserved floor seats for the Detroit show at the Gem -- stumbled upon a musictoday presale. It was not on RA website last night, but was there this morning when I checked (I think it's now sold out of presale tix). Man, it's hard to keep up with this stuff! But at least I'm in the door.

  15. Why, how dare he direct his attention elsewhere!
  16. I liked it. I must have missed out on the VC discourse on the topic, but it got quite a few spins in my car stereo on road trips. But then again, I'm a Fleetwood Mac fan, so it sounded pretty to me.

  18. Hatred? What? I was merely agreeing he put a damper on the nice discussion in this thread by insulting a previous poster. Note that he said nothing relating to the thread topic. He posted only to insult.
  19. Agreed. *shakes the buzzkill off this thread* I must reply in agreement with this statement as well. I saw him twice in King Crimson touring on Lark's Tongues in Aspic (in 1973!), and I was duly blown away.
  20. I am a big fan of La* It's always a pleasure running into the always-smiling-and-cheerful La* at shows -- and hopefully that will happen again soon at the upcoming Wrens show in Chicago. Hope your day was perfect!
