An open letter to all you bug squishers
bigshoulders replied to Good Old Neon's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
A cricket in the house is good luck. But maybe that adage only applies in the South. -
Thanks for clarifying.

Why would someone need to copyright a Will or Power of Attorney? It *should* be notarized, but copyrighted?

"Lost Highway" had some pretty creepy moments... esp. the scene with Robert Blake at the party. We've met before, haven't we?

DVR set! Gotta love that DirecTV. If I had waited to do this when I got home and was distracted with 20 million other things... I would certainly have missed it. Thanks OP.

"Let Love In" is where I started years ago. He is intense... I have never seen him live, but I've loads of friends who have and they hold him in very high esteem. "Murder Ballads" is another favorite. I have several holes in my Nick collection, and need to pick up a few more. I have "Nocturma" but I can't recall when I last listened to it. There's just so much music out there, so little time. Haven't heard anyone mention "Grinderman" yet. It's a side project of Cave's. I did not like it on the initial (and only) listen. Maybe I need to revisit it, but I much preferred "Dig, Lazarus, Dig"

Let's talk about the new Fiery Furnaces album
bigshoulders replied to tongue-tied's topic in Someone Else's Song
I wish I could have been at the Charlotte show! In Carrboro, The FF went on first, and White Rabbits had the "main" set. There was no mention of alternating the "headliner" anywhere, and I'm glad that I got there early enough so's not to miss the FF. I would have been sorely disappointed if I'd missed their set. You really should have stopped to say Hi to Matt and Eleanor. I've met them a couple times, and both are really personable, and easy to talk to. They are very appreciative of their fans, and given the fact that you had such a small crowd, would have probably enjoyed the opportunit -
The guy on the right looks like Ty Pennington. And yes, he *does* talk a lot... but he does a lot of good deeds while doing it. Who knew BigRay was such a misanthrope?!?

Pixies' Doolittle 20th anniversary tour

How many "reunion" tours have the Pixies done now? -
Let's talk about the new Fiery Furnaces album
bigshoulders replied to tongue-tied's topic in Someone Else's Song
Can't wait for tonight: The Fiery Furnaces w/ White Rabbits are playing Cat's Cradle in Carrboro, NC. It's been a long time since I've seen a proper FF set. Woot! -
Not to BigRay. Take that back or he might choke slam you.

+1 We have a right to know!

I blame mp3s in general. In this digital age when an album leaks weeks, sometimes months before the physical product is available, it's no small wonder to me that obtaining and listening to music is simply NOT the same as it once was. Back when I actually listened to CDs in the car, I would get lazy and not change the discs in the disc changer (remember those?) for mos. at a time. Albums had a chance to sink in, then. I'm thankful I steeped myself in many of the staples I still listen to now (namely Waits, Dylan, and to a lesser extent Wilco) when I wasn't so trigger happy on listening

Right you are. I even posted in that topic. I really need a proof-reader before posting.

Salary Crunch: Manny Ramirez Find out how long it takes Manny to make your annual salary. Ouch.

+1 Does anyone know if BigRay is still around under a different name? Maybe we can stir that turd some more, for old time's sake? We could use some excitement around here. Just sayin'.

John Doe is still with X. They are still touring, BTW.

I miss Blender. I too, got the conciliation prize of the remainder of my subscription being fulfilled by Maxim. There was no choice in the matter, which bugs. Anyway, here's hoping that the postman actually delivers this month's issue, for the Wilco content alone.

Happy belated Birthday, Greg!

I can't imagine these are flying off the shelves. I wonder how in the world is that even legal? It seems like overt piracy to me.

I found the Loudness War video (at your link above) to be very informative. It illustrated, quite plainly, why compression can be a bad thing. Here's hoping Wilco sees the value in releasing an "audiophile" CD to accompany their vinyl releases in the future.
