Have you heard that they've found the original patient that contracted Swine Flu? It was this kid!!!

I'm confused why so many people think Summerteeth is 2 words? So the correct ranking really should be: AM B T S Y H F A G I B S B S W (T A)

I was really hoping that Wilco would headline, since they've played the odd-numbered years I've been going. (2005, 2007) I even half-expected Arcade Fire to play as well, since they also seemed to be on the same pattern. No dice. Looks like I'll be sitting this one out. It'd be diff. if I were an Austinite, but I can't justify the airfare and expenses for that lineup. Nosiree.

Wow. How many times has Lilac gone on stage? I know I've witnessed it 4 times myself. Charlotte, NC Charlottesville, VA Chapel Hill, NC Asheville, NC (4/21) Thanks for posting this, Charles. K Shoot. Another case where VC identifiers (nametags, buttons, etc.) would have come in handy!

Sorry to have missed you Lamrod. I was hoping to meet you, but no dice. The Porters at Jack of the Wood were quite good, too. And that night, they were super cheap! Something like $2.35 / pint. Cheers, Kevin

What a solid show! Highlights for me: "Pot Kettle Black", "At My Window Sad and Lonely", and "Hoodoo Voodoo". They were definitely ON last night, and I was so glad to be amoung the happy throngs in Asheville. It was great to see so many friends, both old and new. See you next tour! PS: I totally recommend the chef's special omelet at the Tupelo Honey Cafe. Very yummy!

Sure did. Thanks! I just finished watching the film for the first time, and loved it. Hope to see it on the big screen in TO in June!

There's a chance I'll be there as well... Originally I hadn't planned on it, but things are falling into place regardless.

I like the shots of the jellyfish. Those things are so other-worldly. Very fascinating creatures, those jellyfish.

Lambchop, Bonnie "Prince" Billy or M Ward?
bigshoulders replied to stagerug's topic in Someone Else's Song
Did he duet with J. Cash on his version of the same song? I don't have my liner notes with me at work. That version alone should have been enough to make me seek BPB out before now... I think I've heard some Palace Bro's stuff, but I'm really digging me some M. Ward at the moment. -
That man in Man Vs. Wild doesn't really spend the night outside. It's more like Man Vs. Room Service. Deadliest Catch > M vs. W.

I say "groc-ry". Just 2 syllables.

A couple that come to mind: specific, pro. "pacific" chimney, pro. "chim-ley"

Wilco doc "Ashes of American Flags" playing in Toronto

I've also heard from a very close source that the film will also be screening at NXNE in June. -
I should dust off "Unplugged" and play it tonight. "Nevermind" dropped when I was Jr. in High School. Only a handful of people in my school were hip to it, near as I can tell. 15 years. Fifteen y e a r s. Hard to believe. RIP Kurt.

I'll take a stab at this one. JF is referencing the city in OK, simple as that. Okemah is the birthplace of Woody Guthrie, which he references in "Bandages and Scars" with the refrain: "The words of Woody Guthrie ringing in my head." The cover art pays homage to Woody as well. As for the other album titles-- beats me. K

Hilarious. I've seen "Leslie" before and once was enough.

I thought the teaser for "Ryan's big announcement" was pretty slick way to get him back in town. (Assuming he's in Scranton.)

Anybody old enough to remember that country song by John Anderson: "Swingin'"? It made my skin crawl just googlin' it to find out who was responsible for that piece of sh!t. -
Tom Waits "Lucky Day" Ben Harper "Blessed to be a Witness" Morphine "The Saddest Song", "In Spite of Me" Bob Dylan "Abandoned Love"

Saw the pilot, and was underwhelmed.

If You Seek A One State Depression; Look About You
bigshoulders replied to dondoboy's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Just saw this reply... Yes, I can say with confidence that the CRO industry is strong. There were whispers of lay-offs at GSK, but I don't think this area was hit hard. There are loads of pharma companies and several CROs, in addition to my company. RTP is a pretty stable market in this area of the country and I think it's one of the few areas in this state where home values have not fallen, and construction has remained constant. Of course all of this could change at any moment, but it's not a bad place to call home.
