If You Seek A One State Depression; Look About You
bigshoulders replied to dondoboy's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Sorry to hear that, Dondo. Depends on where you live in NC, and in what industry. Moss, do you mind what I ask what you do for a living? I'm in the Biotech field as well-- I work for a Pharmaceutical CRO. Research Triangle Park in North Carolina is a veritable hotbed for these types of positions, as long as you don't work for GSK, who are down-sizing. -
Do you mind posting the original article link? Thanks!

I'm venturing out to catch them at the Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh tonight. (For my money, it's one of the best-sounding venues in the Raleigh/Durham area) This will be the 3rd time I've seen them there, but one of the shows was played out on the streets for a benefit for something or other. Never saw them with the Boquist Bros., but Chris Masterson feckin' shreds on the guitar. He's not Nels Cline, but the guy can play the hell out of a guitar. Cheers, Kevin

Hard to believe it's been a year... I had some of the best times in my concert-going life standing in that cold-ass line.

Seeing Crispin Glover's name mentioned makes me wanna pull out D. Lynch's "Wild At Heart" just to re-watch the cousin Dell scenes. Talk about some bat-shit crazy.

Wilco. Had Jay Bennett not left the band
bigshoulders replied to Shakespeare In The Alley's topic in Just A Fan
I think you're on to something there... I'd venture to guess that probably 75% (or more) of the members on this board never saw Jay play with Wilco and love-Love-LOVE bashing the guy simply based on the IATTBYH film. I for one happen to miss Jay's contributions to the band, but firmly realize those days are gone. That said, the current line-up is clearly my favorite. -
I love love love this album. It's been a favorite for years, and a playlist away on the old iPod. Kevin

Interesting... "David Lynch: producing" and "David Lynch: directing" are 2 different beasts, but it has potential, I suppose. Kevin

Sweet! I'm guessing JT was by himself, then? Of course the HoG is so cavernous, the whole band could have been there, crawling amid stacks of vinyl, and you'd never see them. Glad you got your moment! Kevin
-
True. If I ever make it back up that way (I'm in NC now) I'll carve out an afternoon to spend there at the HoG. I don't remember asking for help, but I'm sure they can make sense of the chaos. Kevin

I miss the House of Guitars!!! I went to college in Rochester (RIT) and loved shopping at the HoG, but trying to find anything in their vinyl section is an exercise in futility, but I loved it anyway. Kevin

Worst opener for me was: Better than Ezra, who opened for Wilco at Duke's end of the year shindig for undergrads in 2001. (I crashed the party--it was free!) They were "Worse than Expected". The ball-cap clad frat boys all seemed to be into them, though. They left after BTE wrapped up their set, presumably to go vomit one last time for the year.
