Perhaps this was just a blasphemous rumour, but I've heard that they had to airbrush a big ol coke booger Neil Young was sporting during his performance. Is there any truth to that? As I recall... it *is* kind of fuzzy around his nostrils...And he did have the sniffles. discuss, Kevin

I have one of those "Earth Machines." It's made of durable black plastic, is well-ventilated, and has a trap door to scoop the ready to use compost out of the bottom. Earth Machine website There was an awesome program in Raleigh a few years back where I purchased mine for $40. I had no idea they charged what they do for these things.

Absolutely.

Isadorah brought some kick-ass seedlings from her farm co-op. With her help over Memorial Day weekend, there's a good 5' x 7' garden in the works. Mostly stuff I'll know I'll cook with, like tomatoes, peppers, and eggplant. This is the first year I've attempted such a garden, though I've been composting for years now. It's all organic. I have hobbit-like qualities that serve me well. Kevin

I would play along, but it's kind of pointless since I have never tried the local roast. -
X Reunion Tour | Cat's Cradle, NC 27-May-08

Agreed. He was winking at all the ladies and invited all the ones up front to touch his guitar. He can go a full 2 hours without blinking, too. -
I'm still reeling from last night's show in Carborro. If X rolls through your town and you're up for a raucous good time, be sure to catch them. They've still got it, in spades. I haven't had this much fun at a club show in ages. Here's a link to their tour schedule.

I've actually seen a blue-hair wheel one of those things up to the bloody security area, thinking she could take her clubs on the plane with her, only to be told she was going to have to check it. She was kinda pissed. Several of us in the queue were dumbfounded that someone would think that acceptable for carry-on. kevin -
Nice work. This is about the Wilco release that I do not own. I need to remedy that. kevin

How is the sound here? I've heard that's it really good for the folks on the lawn. Maybe someday soon... I'll catch a hometown Wilco show... in the summer. k

The only thing that bugs me now... is it feels like something is missing at 03:20 into "Walken". If you've seen 'em live recently, you know what I'm talking about. It still gets lots of play around my house and vehicle--hard to believe it's been out a year! bigshoulders

Is anyone going to see R.E.M. on this tour?
bigshoulders replied to Kalle's topic in Someone Else's Song
Yup! That was actually my first Wilco show--as an opener for REM on 27Aug1999 at Walnut Creek. I was 5th row, I think, and Wilco upstaged REM for that show. I was hooked from that show onward. Kevin -

I hear you, Luke! While I enjoyed hearing "Camera" at their Raleigh stop in 2003 (in the pouring rain, I might add) I'm looking forward to a rock show coming up in June. As for Waits, I'm on board for the K__BA stops. I hear the Orpheum is gorgeous! Kevin -
I thought the Man might be pulling our legs (individually and as a group) about the recording on Robbie Robertson's record label of crickets. Turns out, I was able to find an interview with Bonnie Jo Hunt (a Sioux opera singer) with little effort: From NPR's Day to Day:: Hearing Voices #142 Here's a snippet: (emphasis mine) Ms. HUNT: I do a lot of traveling because of our non-profit organization. We work with children on self-improvement. So I'm out on the reservations much of the time. And I had these messages saying that Robbie Robertson said to get in touch with me. So we went in stu

I saw those seats before I went to the actual box office (trying to save a buck, which turned out to be literally just a buck, maybe two--they add the convenience charges there like they do online.) But these were wayy too left for my tastes, and besides, I know of some awesome folks already planning to be on the lawn, so I chose the cheaper route for this one. Watch Me Fall: Are you going to be on the lawn, or reserved seating? Cheers, Kevin -
"Come Together" If you only watch one video--see this one. The percussive way this kid plays is simply amazing. "All You Need is Love" And this is just too darn cute to pass up: "Hey Jude"

Columbus is really centrally located when you look at the map. Tom played 2 dates in Ohio 2 years ago, I think it's safe to say that he doesn't mind Ohio. In all likelihood, it's the destination of choice (namely being the closest) to much of the population in New England alone, not to mention those in the Mid-West. There was no conspiracy here, the tickets literally flew out the door, according to Stuart Ross.

Oh yeah! Although I snoozed when the tickets went on sale, I'll be on the lawn for the Raleigh stop of the tour. Never seen MM, but am excited about seeing Johnny Marr for the first time. I caught The National's set at ACL 2007 and loved loved loved them. I'm nearly as excited about seeing them as I am REM. cheers, Kevin -
I was lucky enough to be counted amoung those to get tickets to both Akron and Cleveland. It was a mad dash to get out of the Akron Civic Theatre and up the highway to the House of Blues. It was a night I'll never forget. Seeing Waits twice in a single night was nothing short of legendary. The boot of the HOB show is also the definitive boot of the tour. I don't know HOW they were able to get their rig inside the the HOB. Security was very tight, and they used metal detectors as we entered. Hoist that Rag... Kevin

The Real Gone tour (2004) did have two North American dates: Seattle and Vancouver, BC. There was a string of dates across the pond, which included the following cities: Antwerp, Berlin (3 nites), Amsterdam (3) and London. Kevin
