  1. Talented, sure. I don't appreciate their jams on near the same level as the Dead or even Phish. But their songwriting is mostly pretty terrible (more from a lyrical standpoint than music).
  2. In response to the album title, no, it's not better than 73% of the album. It's better than 0% of the album IMO. It doesn't sound finished. I really have not gotten into this tune at all and don't understand the fuss over it.
  3. His vocals on this track make me cringe. That and there are some totally cringe-worthy lyrics scattered throughout the song. Pretty much what I was expecting from this: something I'll probably want to ignore.
  4. My two cents (and two words) on the thread title alone: Enough Already.
  5. Gimme Fiction was, in fact, my intro to Spoon. But my ranking for their albums is: Kill The Moonlight Series Of Sneaks Girls Can Tell Gimme Fiction Telephono
  6. I don't understand all the knocks against Gimme Fiction. There are a few missteps, but that album starts off so damn strong. Compared to prior Spoon efforts I would say that it's not my favorite, but people seem to think that something comparable to Gimme Fiction would be bad. I'd be happier than a pig in sh*t.
  7. This guy really hasn't hit the big time...yet. But his debut album "The Shredding Tears" is really, really good. Upon first listen, I only responded to the two tracks I'd heard prior to purchasing the album. But upon repeated listenings, it's obvious just how much work he put into the thing. He plays everything except drums on the album and, when trying to get down some of the chord changes/basslines/etc. of the songs, I'm miffed. Just some unreal talent. I'm still not entirely sold on the lyrics, but I'm sold on the album anyways. This album has drawn some comparisons to some really in
  8. I actually find myself looking forward to this release. I wasn't overly impressed with the first two upon initial release, but they've grown on me lately.
  9. If someone wanted to share this, I wouldn't be sad. As a person who has no reason to own iTunes (and is unwilling to set it up for just one song) it would rock.
  10. Two observations: 1) YOU DON'T ALWAYS NEED THE CAPS LOCK ON. 2) Speaking somewhat clear English on this board will help greatly.
  11. I'd (almost) be willing to put my entire life savings on "What Light."
  12. If anyone wants to hook me up with any of the new tunes, I won't complain... I'll even say "thank you."
  13. I wasn't even thinking about the Tain. I was just hoping their next LP was as amazing as the first 4... Starflyer is good, but I wouldn't call any run 'great.' On many of the more upbeat numbers, he seems to recycle some of his prior chord progressions and it's kind of annoying. I noticed this on the newest one moreso than anywhere else. Still, "New Wife, New Life" is one of my favorite tunes. Too bad it's quite sterile in a live setting.
  14. I noticed I felt the same way at the show I saw in February. They were absolutely astounding in concert.
  15. Coulda used this over Leave Me Like You Found Me on the record. I think it could use another good rock tune. Just from the sample, I like it a lot, definitely more than One True Vine, which feels like half a song.
  16. Well that's how I've kinda felt about the whole thread. I think 'cause it's entirely a matter of personal opinion. But it seems as though a lot of people are picking 3 or 4 great albums and saying the 5th one "even though it's the weak link" or something along those lines. With Sufjan there are really only 3 great albums with a bunch of average stuff surrounding it, so I know he would not make it for me. Really, there are not many bands that can pull off 5 consecutive amazing albums. 5 albums with not a single song I want to skip past... Wilco doesn't work simply because of my desire t
  17. I never even viewed Pack Up The Cats as a concept. I love that freakin' album. I have for a long time... And now I must listen again. Thanks a lot.
  18. Those 12 right there...beautiful. If I could get the time off work, I'd make the journey for them. But that's a mighty huge IF.
  19. Initially, it was my favorite off AGIB, but I probably have not listened to that song in several months now. I tend to skip it. I don't know why; I don't hate the song. Really, though, I haven't even listened to AGIB in a straight shot for quite a long time.
  20. You absolutely need Series Of Sneaks. Telephono/Soft Effects has grown on me and I love it a lot, but Series Of Sneaks may be my favorite. Then again, all of them are my favorite at some point: they're just great albums.
  21. They're all still available over at the Dead's website.
  22. My infatuation with Feist's new album has led me (of course) to Broken Social Scene. I liked some of the samples I heard. My question: where's the best place to start? Thanks in advance.
