This new one is my first Ted Leo experience. I think the album starts strong, but "Bomb Repeat Bomb" is awful. Hoping it goes back to being good from here...

I'm totally there man. I probably won't get sleep the night after (I live about 70 miles away and work at 6 am the next morning) but I'm there.

Aaaaaand you lost me.

Regardless of the title, it's Spoon. None of their albums have disappointed me at all. In fact, Kill The Moonlight still beats out every Wilco album as a "desert island selection" for me. There, I said it.

This will be the worst album of the year for me hands down. It's awful: from Brock's awful singing on the opening track to the closing track an hour later (it feels like three days later) I was waiting for it to end. I guess that's not entirely true because there were a couple decent songs. Unfortunately, they're the songs that borrow a vocal contribution from someone who actually put out a good record this year: James Mercer of the Shins. The songs all feel very monotonous to me and Brock sounds like he's doing his best David Byrne impersonation at times which, if it was actually good, I -
Musically, I dig a lot of the evolution. Lyrically and vocally, it leaves me wanting more, or, in the case of Jay's vocals, less. Farrar has an extremely limited range of where he sounds good and near-falsetto isn't in it. When he strives for those high notes, it sounds terrible in about 95% of the instances he tries it in and ruins what, for me, was at least a decent song up to that point. Also, as I said in my prior post, lyrically it's really kinda ho-hum on this album for Jay. Lately, he's lost a lot of steam in the lyrics department (I don't blame him after writing music this long)

After several more listens, I still don't see what most of you are raving about with this album. It sounds like an extension of Farrar's two "solo" discs which are albums I haven't listened to in months, if not years (Sebastopol, pretty good; Terroir, awful). I'm also getting quite tired of the politcal-related lyrics Farrar keeps turning to. They do nothing for me. I'm not saying all political songs are bad, but consistently turning to them is leading to the feeling that I've heard it all before. I thought that after the last "Son Volt" record (sorry, the Boquists + Heidorn + Farrar are

After first listen and seeing everyone's comments on here so far, I find the disc totally underwhelming. I expect it's probably a grower and will take a few weeks to sink in which is cool with me. At least, I hope it's a grower because Okemah found it's way out of my CD player after about a week and hasn't made its return yet. Decent at first, no lasting effect...much like most of Farrar's work since Trace. In any case, this is probably the last Farrar work I buy without hearing a significant portion prior to purchase.

Since hearing it live several times last year, Impossible Germany has become my favorite Wilco song. Sorry "Jesus, etc."

I still think, after listening for several weeks, this album gets less likable as it progresses. Those first two cuts are absolutely killer, but by the time Look Away comes on I'm getting bored. And when Look Away starts, I'm gone. And, as previously posted, I'd start present and work backwards.

Same here. This is amazing.

Anyone got any idea how long it might take for someone who just joined to even be able to DL this album?

He was alright. Some catchy pop hooks, but the lyrics left me cringing several times. However, his band was tight and they sounded damn good even if the bass player was one of the most bland players I've ever seen.

Now, I'm not a huge Guster fan. I don't own their entire catalogue, but my girlfriend and I have been dying to see a show since we drove up to Milwaukee to see Jeff at the end of last October. Living in southern Indiana and having a rough work schedule doesn't help matters. And since MMJ hasn't played their home of Louisville in quite some time, we decided to take a calculated risk of seeing a band that she'd never really heard of and that I'm only a casual fan of. I learned several things about them last night: they're all quite good musicians, the lead singer has a stage presence very s

The one and only center of the band we know as "Wilco."

Are you kidding? NOBODY in Chicago cares about the Hawks. Thank you Bill Wirtz for that. They don't televise home games, charge as much for parking as they do at a Cubs game, and put a shitty team on the ice year after year after year. Why the hell I'm still a fan, I don't know. Maybe I like the abuse. Or maybe it's cuz between my Hawks and Cubs, I've got nearly 150 years of futility and that's something to laugh at. In any case, before I moved, I broke down and spent the 150 bucks on NHL Center Ice this year and was absolutely loving it. Being able to come home from work and watch

Excellent read. I breezed through this in 3 days and was actually sad when it ended. Spectacular book that, as you said, is much more than a genre book.

Muchas gracias.

I don't usually ask for anything here, but... Can any kind soul post an mp3 of this song for me? It would be greatly appreciated.

Wow....and you came up with that how?

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah new stuff

So upon finally giving this album several serious listens, I've decided the term "sophomore slump" definitely applies here. What a wretched follow-up to a nearly-flawless album. I like maybe 4 songs. And "Satan Said Dance" is among them. Frankly, it gets stuck in my head, it's catchy and quirky like their entire first album, and I just like it. It's just a really poor album. I'm pretty sure CYHSY is a one album deal: buy their first one, forget the rest. -
Normally, that kinda stuff just lets me down on an artist, but I just can't stop watching this one...

Not to mention totally badass.

One Big Holiday Dancefloors What A Wonderful Man Needless to say, I prefer the rockin' side of MMJ.
