  1. Once again I turn to the wonderful VC'ers for advice..... Ok, so I am going to sell my house next spring, for the big move to the city and university (at 31 years young, a bit of a late bloomer I guess). Anyone have experience selling their house privately, without a real estate agent? I know a good one, but the $5000 commission seems daunting. For what, really? A bunch of paperwork and placing an ad? But, I have never sold property before, so I am looking for some input, your experiences, etc.
  2. I have a cat named Wilco, here he is.......
  3. THIS made me laugh out loud. Well played!
  4. That covers hurts my eyes, but makes me very, very curious as to what's inside.........
  5. You guys are great. I am just numb, and pretty angry. He died of kidney failure, and was suffering quite a bit, so I guess he is at peace now. It was one of the best moments of my life, about a month ago, when he came out of surgery and the first thing he said was "Where's Steven?"...... THAT made my year, all time Top 5 moments of my life. He had some issues with dementia too towards the end, and he kept asking my Mom when I was coming home. I am going to listen to the MOST Stanley Brothers and Bill Monroe this afternoon. Pops loved his bluegrass.
  6. Ed and Sigur Ros are for me, the Stanley Brothers as a tribute to my Pops..........
  7. My Dad died today. It hurts. I have the first nice guitar he ever bought hanging on the wall in my basement. He was a picker, and had one of the most powerful voices I have ever heard. I miss him already. Do me a favor, folks. Listen to the Kicking Television version of "Ashes Of American Flags" on repeat a few times for me, because that's all I am doing.
  8. I remember listening to the Thriller album on vinyl when I was in kindergarten. My cousin brought it for show and tell, haha, and the class got to listen to some songs. It was a pure pop moment.
  9. I don't have an "argument" for it, its just something I thought of, as all 4 albums are amazing, made at similiar points in each bands career, in a way? I don't know. It's been a ROUGH long weekend, haha. The brain is a little tired........
  10. If YHF was their "Sgt. Pepper's...", may this be their "Abbey Road"? Can I say that? I am in love with the new album. Each song hits me in a different way the more I listen to them. And this may be redundant, but FUCK, I can't wait to see Bull Black Nova live!!!!!!
  11. Words cannot describe the sentimental attachment I have to this album, and also, how F$#KING great it is!! Big brothers around the world, cheers to you, and thanks for the great music!
  12. Lynch is back! Alive and well, made it through the worst winter of my life. Cheers, everyone!!!!
  13. I am thankful for the following.... Music The friends that have actually stuck by me through this year My guitars My cats Finding a new job The wonderful musicians I am playing with these days The live version of "Radio Cure" from Kicking Television (pretty specific with that last one, but it got me through a really rough night last night, haunted by memories).
  14. This morning I was sitting in my basement and I heard all of Kicking Television! It was awesome.
  15. I have been preaching the gospel of Wilco since '97, and have introduced everyone I know to them. Most have become fans. It is fun when you run into random people who are fans of the band. I had a little shindig at my house a few weeks ago, I played Kamera, and this girl just started singing along. It was cool. My reaction was "Holy shit, you know Wilco???", haha.

I heartily agree. I mean really, this took HOW many years to make? The mix and production are awful, and as for the songs themselves.......yikes.
  17. My personal choice for '08's album of the year.....LOVE this disc!!
  18. A friend of mine showed me the video for Furr the other day, and I fell in love immediately. LOVE this band!!
  19. I work in the RV industry in Canada, and I find out tomorrow if I will have a job or not after Christmas. They are laying off 90-99 people, nearly half our workforce. This is the hardest hit we have ever been, and we have been around almost 45 years.
  20. My "Best of '08" list just got much more difficult....
