Maybe they can talk to the folks at Sugarbush.

Although I rarely have a conversation with him, seeing Paul is like coming home. In fact, if Paul's not there, something seems a little off.

Albany, NY is about an hour away, Hartford, CT is about an 1 1/2. 3 hours from Boston and maybe 3 1/2 from NYC. Apparently there is Amtrak from Albany to N Adams, but getting from the airport to train could be problematic. I would get the cheapest flight to Albany, Hartford, or Boston and rent a car.

They have announced it, but it is June, 2013.

What order do you put Wes Anderson's films in?

yes, agreed! Sorry that didn't get mentioned in my post.

No, no. That is assuredly a tote.

I CANNOT wait. Favorite filmmaker and set in New England? Dreamy. -
My problem with it is this: It seems to be the go-to song whenever there is a need for a big epic number at the end of a concert with multiple "special guests", with different people singing different verses, etc. Unfortunately, "special guests" don't usually have tons of time playing together or to practice together. So there might be one weakly sung verse, a failed attempt to pick up someone's cue, someone improvising something without the others knowing it is going to happen, etc. When they did it at SS with Levon Helm last year, it had some strong and weak parts. When I saw the ABB do

I've been listening to White Denim in preparation and I really like them a lot. Now if only I could get tickets to the Warfield!
-
Although the website is posted as Sold Out, I was able to purchase 2 to San Jose this morning.

I'd love to avoid scalpers to get 2 floor tickets to the Warfield in SF. My husband and myself have decided to take a weekend away, and I'd do just about anything to buy through a fan instead of secondary ticket outlets.

I'm hoping for a Solid Sound 2012 announcement.

"Crucify" Tori Amos Well, I'm not sure it counts because it is an EP, and I think only 3 of the 5 songs are covers, but they are good and out-of-genre, as all good covers should be.

When I saw her, less than 2 years ago, it was in what kind of amounted to a town hall. She said she wanted to take advantage of that so she passed around a clip board for comments, requests and questions. I figured I would ask a smart-ass question because she is pretty funny and there were already plenty of requests when it came around to me. So I wrote, "How did you get to be so awesome?" After the break, she came out with the clipboard in hand, said she was going to answer some questions and then said mine. She replied, "Hard work and smoke and mirrors." She is too cool.

Have you seen "Magnolia"? I'd seen an interview with writer/director Paul Thomas Anderson where he said that he is friends with Aimee Mann, and asked her if she had any music for a movie he was making. She gave him some music and he wrote the movie around it. Terrific film and music together. I saw her in Norfolk, CT at an intimate little venue and she was really great. Love her.

I saw them in Torrington, CT. Did you get the feeling that the band wasn't really given the opportunity to cut loose? It seemed that way to me. They opened up a little on the covers, but on Warren's originals they were pretty subdued. And it was a heavy-on-originals setlist.
-
I agree that they both are great guitar players as well. No doubt about it. I go and keep seeing ABB, Gov't Mule, Warren Haynes Band, Trucks/Tedesci, etc; so I am definitely a fan. But, the Allman Bros are my favorite, and it's because of Gregg, I think. Well, Gregg and Otiel. Whenever I see Trucks or Haynes without the ABB, I always come away missing something. I recognize and appreciate proficient guitar playing. But The ABB has something the others are lacking; heart, emotion, the songs, groove? I'm not sure. I had high hopes for The Warren Haynes Band a few weeks ago, but came aw

I disagree on the first point. I really don't care for Warren's singing, and Gregg's voice is a defining ABB element, I think. I couldn't agree more on the second point. I think Warren has some of that as well.
-
My friends went Tuesday and Wednesday. HUGE ABB fans. They both said both nights were bad. Again, hope Gregg gets over whatever it is and is back on top soon. I read through the Allman sight and there seems to be speculation about a Beacon run in 2012.
-
I was getting texts from a friend at Wednesday's show saying that Gregg's vocals were way off and painful to hear. That clip above confirms. When I saw them this summer at the Beacon Hep C benefit, they were great, Gregg sounded good; but they had the support of guest vocalists as well. Maybe whole performances at a 4 night run is taxing for Gregg a bit. Hopefully it's just taking him a while to get over health issues and not a result of destructive substances. The last 5 years or so have been stellar. That said, Warren is doing exactly what he should be doing. Playing, not singing.

What is the best band from NZ?

Why isn't Flight of the Conchords on the list? -
The dog's name was 'Barfy." That's pretty funny.

I saw them last summer, not really knowing what to expect. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Wayne Coyne's language is pretty racy, be ready to be called "motherf*cker" a whole bunch. He talked a lot! But all in all, it was pretty joyful and fun. Does anyone belong to his twitter feed? It appears that that guy takes A LOT of drugs!
