  1. I just made dinner reservations for Saturday at Gramercy Bistro, right there on campus. Open Table was wide open with reservation times, so if anyone thinks they may want to sit and be served for a little while, it might be a good idea to make a reservation. Learn from my prior mistakes, it's hard to just walk in during Solid Sound. Food is good, too.
  2. That would be a cool weekend. I can't tell from the website if there will be any other bands, though.
  3. I will admit, I rushed to look at mine! At least you gained a week!
  4. Are you looking at a different calendar than I am?
  5. And little slips of paper to hand out that instruct the audience to shout "WELFARE!" should Wilco play Abba on Friday night.
  6. Nametags. "Hello, my name is________________ (insert VC handle here).
  7. Only if I get free beer and beef jerky. And a tee shirt.
  8. I look forward to your updates on what happens. Also, I hope you can get your ticket autographed. Also, I think there should be a VC booth.
  9. It's sad what drugs will do the youths My last show (I think) was Vegas in '93. Sting opened? But I moved from the US to Germany in '93 so that was the end of it for me.
  10. I think if they do play it, we should figure out a way to get the crowd to yell "WELFARE!" instead of the usual "woo."
  11. I was listening to the radio the other day, a song came on and I was inspired to request it. I won't post it here because I fear ridicule and am not good with rejection, but I'll certainly lay claim to it if they play it!
  12. I have 3 pairs of Grateful Dead skis that I bought in 93 or so, still in wrappers. Still don't think they are worth anything.
  13. THAT is awesome! My husband has work often in San Antonio, so we were considering heading down that week in the middle because I was thinking there would be some good opportunity to hear music that week. Then, hit up ACL because we haven't done that since we lived there.
  14. There is a public lot just south of MassMoCA, on the other side of Rt 2. It is accessed from Rt 8, enter at the Freight Yard restaurant and follow the lot towards the end. From there, there is a pedestrian bridge over Rt 2 that will take you towards the main entrance. In years past, there is another exit from the venue (out towards the Airstream) that leads right to the pedestrian bridge. This lot is not on any of the maps Solid Sound puts out, but I was encouraged to park there by the restaurant manager and both years I was surprised to find that it was basically empty.
  15. Further canceled shows because of Bob's health. According to my FB feed, at least.
  16. I went in for Saratoga. I was only going to buy if I was able to get pit, which I eventually ended up getting. But the whole experience was ridiculous on several levels. I've never had to watch an advertisement to access the captcha before. And ticket insurance??!!! WTF?
  17. Also, the comedy acts were inside, and they would only allow a certain amount of people at a time. There would be lines outside the theater while they waited for people to leave. So I would recommend planning on being in the theater for the act before the one you really want to see. But that was really the only tight crowds. Otherwise, the galleries are busy but the place is so huge, you can easily find quiet corners. The Appalachian Trail goes right through North Adams, so it is cool to walk some of that. Also, Mount Greylock is right at the edge of town which offers some really good
  18. In the past, nice fabric bracelets. And I think a separate one for over 21. Super easy process for getting in, absolutely painless.
  19. Surely someone around here has a Bedazzler they can donate to the cause.
  20. I can attest to that. Beers at a Phish concert I went to a few years back were $12 (!). And it wasn't even good beer, it was Bud. My husband drank a bunch of them; he kept thinking he would like the music better if he had just. one. more.
  21. No, I'm saying I want cheap beer, lots of it, and for someone else to drive me home. And for the fuzz to stop everyone leaving the concert to make sure they have designated drivers as well. And I want my designated driver to have free or cheap cokes to keep them awake and sober.
  22. I saw them last week at Jay Peak in VT. It was the 2nd time I've seen them, and they were really great. The venue was a little weird though. It was in a ballroom that made it feel like a class reunion. And not even close to sold out, maybe 200 people.
  23. I did think about this. It's a good point. I do think they could do a lot to encourage responsible drinking, even cheaper soft drinks, dd wristbands, increased security in the parking lots and traffic stops.
  24. For $25 plus $12 or $16 worth of beer I would consider going. I'm not a huge fan of his music, but I feel like he has a sense of humor. It could be an entertaining evening out.
  25. A friend and I talk a lot about this. I have many of them. When I was 19 or so, driving south on RT 12 in upstate NY, Wharf Rat was on, the hair stood up on the back of my neck and tears came to my eyes. It comes often and I'm always in search of it. I catch moments of it in the car, at concerts. Sometimes it'll last an entire concert (Wilco, Pines Theater, 2007; Dawes, Infinity Hall, 2012; Blitzen Trapper, Arch St Tavern, 2012 just for some recent ones), and when that happens, the feeling will last for days. As long as that keeps happening, I'll keep listening!
