I've only looked for the shows I attended: '08 and the the 2nd night of '09. I've yet to find either, but I also haven't looked very hard since a month or two after the shows.

Yes, people raised their hands, although the farther away from the stage you were, the less likely it was that Jeff would see you or your hand. The balcony had to remind him that they were present, and then Jeff asked that they elect a representative to ask the question since he couldn't actually see any of them. (That is the point at which Jeremy asked if he could pay Jeff $5 in exchange for the chance to play a G chord on Jeff's guitar.)

In my case, past experience. I've yet to see one of these recordings surface.

Actually, I'm almost positive it was a gesture/nod/tribute to Russ.

Alone (Shakin' Sugar) was the highlight of the night for me--I never thought I'd hear that live. (Thanks Russ--and Jeff.) The Single Ladies bit was a stand-out as well, but yeah....really doesn't want to play Ashes solo acoustic. It was a bizarre crowd, but Jeff always manages to handle those situations well. Who would've thought a Q/A session could have gone wrong?

Friday's show was excellent. And of course people are going to request many songs outside of the "usual suspects." I didn't make it into town in time to be among the first 30 in line on Friday, but if I had, I would have requested Feed of Man--not because it's my favorite but because it's one I may never get to hear anywhere else. I think the requests make for an exciting night of surprises.

I bought some this afternoon on TM as well. We already had tickets for Saturday but decided to toss Friday in as well. It's going to be a bit hairy for me to get there in time for doors, but I'm up for the challenge.

Please don't post the "Shot In The Arm" video.

Next intro music: "Baby, if you've ever wondered, wondered whatever became of me..."

Speaking of the Maneki Neko, did you see it tip over in Madison? At the end of the main set, I believe (or the end of the first encore). Apparently Nels also saw it tip and remedied this situation before it fell off the amp. Who needs bad juju on the Tundra Tour?

I was thinking the same thing: "Keep The Barrymore in mind. Barrymore, Barrymore, Barrymore...."

Summer Teeth, nice. Candyfloss?! I wasn't even supposed to go to this show, and that hurts. Wow. Sounds like a good night with terrible weather--hope everyone made it home safely.

I'm sorry, Matt. I had no idea, although I did notice the seating arrangement. That was 2.5 hours of bargain therapy, huh? Hang in there.

I was wondering if you were there last night. 10:50

It was a fun night in Madison. The last time they played the Overture, it was a "sit or stand?" crowd, but last night everyone seemed ready to stand. Jeff did put Madison on the spot for not making Wilco an honorary band of the city the way the mayor did in Duluth. Maybe the the majority of the front row was staging a sit-in until Mayor Dave arrived? I thought that being in the first few rows would guarantee I'd be in the heart of the "standing crowd," so it was funny that the opposite was true. Good view for me, though. Broken Arrow was a treat. (Misunderstood was in its place on the p

Interesting review. "Angsty kraut-rock-experimental-screech"? It's nice that Jeff's "thwack-whacking" is getting attention (NAPE)--his solos were definitely among the best moments of the October Chicago shows for me.

Love that guitar.

Nice setlist. Looking it over makes me anxious for another solo show opportunity, and I'd especially like to hear Country Disappeared in a solo setting. -
Wah! Jay Farrar on Uncle Tupelo last week......

The assumption being that they exist for your pleasure? I can't believe I just bumped this thread... -
Happy Birthday! (How many places can this occur? I really just wanted to see what happens at 2500 posts...Kingpin to...?) HA! I Must Be High. Of course.
-
The setlist: Cars-->Wishful Thinking. Nice! I don't think I've ever heard that before.
-
Missed opportunity, obviously.
-
So I've heard! I think that trumps "Dreamer..." Even though you're missing seven hours of your birthday, I think you made the most of the 17 you had, B. Hope you can get some rest on the flight!

If you're unfamiliar with this tradition, David Sedaris's "Six to Eight Black Men" would be an excellent primer. Nice that Zwarte Piet could get a shout-out tonight. Any signs of him stuffing children in sacks or pretending to beat them with sticks? "Listen, you're going to want to pack your things..." Looks like a nice setlist. I can't wait to hear Sonny Feeling again. Has the rainbow SG been making regular appearances?

They opened with it in Milwaukee in April.
