  1. I was going to say, "You're right" until I saw andrewdowdall's picture. Turns out that was what I needed. Go, Synth!
  2. Gonna stay on the scene? (Get on up!) Like a-- Wait, no. That seems like a really unusual encore. How often has ITMWLY been the closer? Or is Jesus Etc. part of the encore? (There has to be a WilcoBase "app" for that.) And Synthesizer Patel: where was he on stage? Was he enthusiastic? Dead-pan? Hahaha. That's good stuff. Was he introduced or did he just show up, like cowbell Hall & Oates?
  3. Oh, uh....hey, buddy. Why Would You Wanna Live? That would be a nice surprise.
  4. Thanks for the report--I came on specifically to see if someone had started a post, so I'm glad you did. Country Disappeared really is lovely, isn't it? Were there any other songs that stood out to you? And do you remember if they played Sonny Feeling? That seems to have drifted out of the set lists of late, but it's one of my favorites off the latest album to hear live. Oh, and what was the closer? Sorry for all the questions. Who do I think you are, bbop?
  5. I'm so sorry about your son. If you go to the Shows page of the WilcoWorld website http://www.wilcoworld.net/shows/index.php you can click on "Buy," and a box will pop up. In that box will be a "request" option. Click that and go from there.
  6. Thanks for the link! We'll be in Chicago on 11/27, but for a 90th bday party. Not sure if we'll be able to make it, but I see she has a three night stand at Oneida in Green Bay. Maybe we could work the bingo cards beforehand?
  7. Was it really a half/half division between VIP and GA? Were people in VIP actually sitting and dining? Ha. How bizarre. Nice setlist! I don't think I'll ever hear I'm Always In Love often enough live. Looks like a great length for a festival set, too. And your description of the physical backdrop for the show makes me especially envious--there's something really special about outdoor shows.
  8. I thought that perhaps by two days post-show I'd be caught up on sleep AND have my thoughts carefully organized, but that hasn't happened. So instead I'll just say what I can before more time passes and I don't express the thanks that are due. Thanks, of course, to the Tweedys. These shows take a lot of time--organizing, preparing, performing--and it's time that they carve out of schedules that are already packed. It's so generous and infinitely appreciated. Thanks also to Hotel SnS for outstanding hospitality. And canine entertainment to boot? Unbeatable. Thanks for letting us "turn up
  9. Yeah, very cool. In theory, I'm not going to FarmAid. In reality, I am.
  10. My god, it was a brilliant idea at the time! I do recall someone predicting, however, that none of us "would be going ANYwhere" in the morning. It's too bad. We'd make a good posse.
  11. That is an official proclamation! Sounds like a great show. I would have love to have attended, but the plans just...never quite materialized. Thanks for the setlist.
  12. One other highlight from the fest: The Story Pirates. My kids are still talking about the skits and singing the songs. What a great choice!
  13. It was requested (as Shakin' Sugar, by Russ) at a solo benefit show this year on night 1, and Jeff had to track down a copy of it on the interwebs. He played it on night 2 and then hauled it out at Solid Sound. I'd like to offer a sincere thanks to Russ for that particular turn of events.
  14. It's hard to believe Solid Sound was a week ago since we just arrived back home after turning it into a 10 day family vacation. As others have already stated clearly, it was a fantastic weekend. I was especially impressed with how polite the folks at Mass MoCA were. Instead of the standard, "Move it, people! Get moving, the show's over!" barks from security, I had Mass MoCA volunteers saying things like, "I'm glad you're having such a nice time. I'd like to encourage you to head to the exit as the grounds are closing now." Ha. How can you help but respond politely to that? Perhaps the o
  15. This has been a GREAT festival. Aside from the woman at the Holiday Inn bar tonight, people have been nothing but completely awesome. Well, and the guy who almost peed in our elevator, but otherwise great people all around.
  16. What a great show in South Bend! I realized yesterday that I hadn't seen Wilco outdoors since '08, and last night was perfect for an outdoor show. The setlist was oustanding: Side With The Seeds, Either Way, Say You Miss Me (pigeons be damned!), Broken Arrow, Company, Late Greats... There was also a new Walken guitar. No, make that a guitorgan. Crazy! As already mentioned, the KOL-related banter was priceless. Like ditty said, the "back in the day" reference was funny and greeted with cheers and laughter. Then, in classic Jeff fashion, he took it a step farther: "We've had roadies cra
  17. Dude, you got to play along! Nice. It sounds like an awesome experience, and engagement stories don't get much better than that. Wendy (or Edie), wasn't Nothing Up My Sleeve requested at your show last year? But not played/not remembered? I was going to request it at the Vic shows this year but someone recounted the request happening at your show. Anyway, kudos to whomever went after it again. What a treat to hear!
  18. Since Wilco has instituted a "No Photography" policy during shows, I would imagine the same policy will hold true for the Wilco and Tweedy shows during Solid Sound. If you're wondering about having your camera on the festival grounds in general, you could probably direct that question to Mass MoCA and get a timely response.
  19. Yes! That's what I thought of when I saw him, too.
  20. Thanks for the setlist and show report! Sounds like a really nice night. I was in Barcelona a couple of weeks ago--I wish the timing had worked out better as it had to be a beautiful setting for the show. Wow, I don't think I've seen this on a setlist since....the Residency. Have I? That's a rarity I'd love to hear again.
  21. I'm sure it was nothing personal--it just seemed too good to be true. I mean, Kicking TV? That's definitely an "Are you sure you aren't shitting me?" item. Now that it's confirmed, Are you fucking kidding?! Nice!
  22. I love that lollipop guitar! Thanks for the nice report, Monster.
  23. Glenn's snare work during the second verse of Everlasting Everything (starting with "Every wave..."). I'm not a huge fan of the song as a whole, but when I listen to W(ta), that snare work grabs me without fail. There are a lot of beautiful things happening musically in that song.
