Oddly enough, at the ripe age of 20 I have finally seen the first 2 terminators. I had no clue how good they were, I must have had a sheltered childhood or something. I wanted to watch them before seeing Terminator Salvation, but funny enough, according to my pals T4 is terrible so I skipped it. So rather than seeing Terminator, I instead watched Eternal Sunshine and Synecdoche New York. As a whole, I enjoyed Synecdoche more, BUT, the back story to the Lacuna corporation was so intriguing to me. To me, both movies were so complex that a second viewing would do me some good. After seei

Would anyone like to offer advice on some advice/info about getting into vinyl. It is a hobby I am considering getting into, luckily there are several record stores in my area where I can get a bulk of my information. However I don't want to look like a total fool, so any advice would be nice. What would I need (outside of a turn table and a set of speakers) A total music snob told me that I will end up having to pay over $1,000 by the time I'm done. I know with high end equipment vinyl can be expensive, but could I get various components for under $300 or so? Assuming that is my budget

Just out of curiosity, could you post that mp3? I would like to hear a solo worthy of having its own tab. That is not meant to be condescending or anything, I just love Magazine and all of its versions!

I'm all for Ritter. I would like to see The Bad Plus open for Wilco, mostly because I would like to see Nels jam with them, too bad that would never happen

Anyone here check out that Showbox DVD? I just ran into it today, I didn't even know it existed! Is it as good as their Italian tour DVD, the name escapes me...

2009 Newport Folk Festival (50th anniversary!)
jmacomber68w replied to spacepanda's topic in Someone Else's Song
I'm with you there. In it's current form I see your point, BUT, I read in the Projo a scary bit of information about the folk fest. I guess they have been really hurt over the past few years, and last year they didn't even make a profit. So this years festival might be the last as we know it. At least until the economy gets back on its feet, I'd rather see have a 1 day festival so they can keep bigger acts, rather than a 2 day festival that is watered down (not that this years is watered down, but in the future it will be) -

When I went in 2007 Saturday was the main day to go, I do not like how they are splitting things up. This could really be a 1 day thing with more stages. If I could see Josh Ritter AND the Decemberists on the same day I would go, however that isn't the case, and I can't afford 2 tix so it looks like I will pass. -
Jay singing My Darling on the DVD I Am Trying To Break Your Heart is the worst part of any movie ever made

I wonder if this author was the same guy who wrote that "5 overrated and underrated Wilco songs" article.

http://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/2009-05-14/...nd-that-s-okay/ Here is an interesting article a friend sent me. It discusses Wilco, Dave Matthews Band, and Jimmy Buffet, among other things. I know this might cause a stir, since in my experiences, DMB can be fairly polarizing group. Personally I love both bands, but I gotta agree with the author, the fans at DMB shows suck. Best line - "I can't get past the crowd at the DMB show. Even before I'd walked through the gate, I saw a gray-haired man in a backwards Callaway Golf hat playing quarters with his Panama-hatted friend, using nickels

But response like these are not!!!! I enjoy and respect Jay for his influence in the studio, but for me, EVERY Wilco song sounds better with the current lineup

I really don't know you at all on these boards. I also never get any of the old timer VC inside jokes, but whenever I saw a Panther post, I was always reminded of that EXCELLENT song, so I'll miss you!
