Now... that would make me look completely self-absorbed!!! Maybe... Oh, and I am not without shame. I feel kinda dirty whenever I post something like this. I think that my excitement just kinda overpowers my shame and I wind up posting and cringing and hoping for some sort of response. Cringing as I post this, even...

Ditch "Revolution #9", for sure. After that, it's really a toss-up. Maybe bye-bye to "Piggies" and "Yer Blues" as well and, hell... with those three songs alone, we've ditched an entire album side. "Wild Honey Pie" is also unnecessary, but loosing it dont gain you much, as far as time is concerned. EDIT: Okay, so I tried it at that site, and it is impossible. Damn. Although, I still say get rid of "Revolution #9"!

There's a guy who is working on his version of "The Yummy Song" (the "secret" lo-fi track from the Hop On Pop record -- stream HERE). It'll be the 5th tune of mine that another artist is covering. I love this shit! So flattering. I'm curious to hear how he's gonna tackle it, especially the little breaks. Mods: If you feel this is too self-promotional, or that I've been out-of-control with posts about my own music, please delete this thread. Thanks.

Just curious. Because when I was playing out (or trying to play out) more frequently, I always booked my own gigs and I found that the worst, most-aggravating part of being a gigging musician. Hated dealing with the talent buyers. Those of you who do have a booking agent: how much do they take? Just a portion of your pay or do you pay them a flat fee? And, do they help promote the gig? Also... do jut play locally or do you tour? How extensively? Questions from someone who most-likely went about it all wrong. Thanks.

When asking anyone what their favorite music is, I always follow it with, "Besides The Beatles; because that's just a given."

Having been born in 1970, I was a bit too young to have really seen and appreciated Dean-o. But thanks to my grandma, I got my hands on a DVD of some of the shows and, it was DAMN funny! Represents really the best of what those 70's variety shows could have (and should have) been. Other fans? This one here is probably my favorite: www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIA1VS2bDa4 Damn, is she quick!

Is that Buddy Miller of Buddy and Julie Miller? I was them open for Steve Earle a few years ago and they were great.

Just arrived: The remastering job on this bad boy is outstanding.

I only just started listening to Harry Nilsson about a year ago. Maybe it was the 70's thing that kept me away and that whole connotation. I don't really know. But the more that I heard about Nilsson, the more that I wanted I wanted to hear him, until I finally gave in and bought Nilsson Schmilsson. Oh lord, what an album! If you're a fan, I don't have to tell you, but I felt like I was listening to a kindred musical spirit (only with about 2.5 octaves greater vocal range than I have). Then I got Son Of Schmilsson and realized that the first purchase was no fluke. I have this box set on its wa

It's up now, and streaming at the above link. (Starts at about 16:30.) A great quote from the interview: "Many things in life are disappointing; Bob Dylan is not one of them."

And he was hospitalized to have his stomach pumped of all that semen back in the late 70's.

Ah... I was confusing Last Exit with Naked City, which is probably even MORE challenging/abrasive than Last Exit. Oh, and I have another recommendation: Barry Adamson - Oedipus Schmoedipus Former bass player with Magazine and Nick Cave collaborator. This record really knocks me out... it's like a film soundtrack without a film. Some of the darkest, scariest music I've ever heard on there. And it's still a lot of fun. Apparently his new ('08) album, Back To the Cat is every bit as good, if not better (according to AllMusic). Also: The Ken Vandermark 5 has a similar sound to Naked City and
