  1. One of The Ramones' last albums was all covers: Acid Eaters
  2. As a Red Wings fan, competing for a playoff spot hasn't been an issue since 1990, which I think is the last time they haven't qualified for the playoffs. I'm more thrilled that they only have to make one trip out to those cities per year. Once Phoenix moves to Quebec, that will make one of the Eastern conferences an 8 team conference, and the most Western one will have 7. There's really nothing you can do to allieviate the travel for the West, but the new plan makes it less onerous than the current plan.
  3. Realignment. I like it. Now every team will play the other at least twice. And, the initial playoff rounds are divisional/conferencial. (conferencial?)
  4. This version of the heavy metal family tree is great. I'm pretty sure this appeared earlier in this thread. I don't recall who originally posted it...
  5. Relax. Young finished with more MVP vote-points than Avila.
  6. Yob is up there too. I've enjoyed that one. I think you recommended that one earlier in this thread?

  8. I saw The Fab Faux over the weekend. They played Revolver and Sgt Peppers straight through. Fantastic Concert. Definitely a must-see if you're a Beatles fan. (and who isn't except for that one crazy guy here on VC who likes everyone BUT the Beatles) For him, it's a rental.
  9. I thought the Victoria tease was cruel. I was right of center on the main floor, just under the edge of the balcony. I really enjoyed the show, but would have liked more "full band" songs rather than the campfire sing-along of the 1st half of the show. But, Waterloo Sunset came off beautifully, and Sunny Afternoon was fun. Ray really seemed to be enjoying himself, especially once the whole band joined the show. He's pretty spry for an old guy. Would have loved to hear: Tired of Waiting, Stop your sobbing, and Shangri-La, and if the show were moved back a month, Father Christmas. One
  10. It's looking good. Recent set list
  11. If you've seen them twice, how could you be missing out? I feel the same way about Kurt Vile's album - much loved here, but does nothing for me.
  12. Tuneyards St. Vincent Stephen Malkmus Girls
  13. So anyway... Here's my take on the Cain situation. He's completely mishandled this. I understand that before Politico broke the sexual harrassment story, they gave Cain ten days forewarning that they were going to publish it. So, if that's true, he wasn't blindsided, and he should have been better prepared to handle it. I think his whole problem could have been averted if he simply said this: "Yes, I'm aware that there were two sexual harrassment complaints filed against me in the past. At the time, under advice of counsel, we believed that neither case had merit, but did not want to spe
  14. She probably doesn't want to be married to a high-ass, and you probably don't want to be married to a church-ass. OR... You could stay together and become a cliched odd couple sitcom: Churchy La Femme & Mr. Dank.
  15. Once, in college days, I saw a guy walking home from marching band practice still wearing his tuba. So I yelled from my apartment window, "TUBA SOLO!", and he indulged me with the opening riff from Heartbreaker. Made my day.
  16. Would a graph help? You're not impressed that it took us thousands of years to get to two billion, but then we jumped to seven billion ninety years later? Staggering!
  17. One of my favorite albums when I was a kid:
  18. I had tickets to see Zappa in 1988, but he cancelled the whole tour after playing a few East Coast dates. Never toured again...
