  1. So now you're saying we SHOULD believe CEOs as trustworthy now?
  2. Did you really go back and edit your picks? We need an ethics audit!
  3. Putting a hat on a bed is a harbinger of doom. Akin to a black cat crossing your path, a broken mirror, walking under a ladder, etc, except worse than all. I don't seriously believe it, but I also don't put a hat on a bed, and if I see one lying there, I take it off. Inherited that superstition from my mom, who is Peruvian. I've never met anyone else who's ever heard of this superstition, except that it's in the movie "Drugstore Cowboy". Matt Dillon's character freaks out when he sees a hat on a bed, and sure enough, Heather Graham (the one who put it there) is dead from ODing soon after. He b
  4. I think my East prediction would be the same as yours, but in the West? Columbus is 5 points behind Chicago with 5 games remaining, and Chicago has a game in hand, and you think Columbus will overtake them? (AND Calgary?) You're nuts. I don't think St. Louis will bump Nashville, not with 4 out their 5 remaining games on the road... my picks WEST 1. San Jose 2. Detroit 3. Vancouver 4. Calgary 5. Chicago 6. Columbus 7. Anaheim 8. Nashville EAST 1. Boston 2. Washington 3. New Jersey 4. Carolina 5. Philadelphia 6. Pittsburgh 7. New York 8. Florida
  5. I had friends who, in the days before the Pack won their 90s superbowl, would play AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" before watching every game. The week they didn't the Pack lost. I don't have any sports superstitions, but a hat on the bed is the worst thing imaginable. NEVER put a hat on the bed. That shit will fuck you up.
  6. The Marriott Residence Inn on Plankinton has a good rate right now, I believe ($105 for a 1BR). I know because we're using that hotel for our wedding in May. Their rooms are big, and they all have kitchenettes. I was surprised at how nice and big the rooms are when we toured it...
  7. I only saw one game at the Stadium - it was Don Mattingly day, summer of 98 - same weekend that Princess Di died. Bob Shepperd's voice was so low key - my friend pointed it out to me. I wasn't aware of him or his history. But we always imitated his voice after that day.
  8. Rookie pitchers Porcello and Ryan both made the Tigers opening day roster. Should be interesting...
  9. Don't let those cute critters fool you
  10. Maybe he wanted to hear "I hate my daddy, and mommy never loved me, and the only way I can show them is by winning the super bowl!"
  11. Brushing cats' teeth is half the battle, it's the whitestrips that are the real problem!
  12. Why on earth would you give a cat a bath?
  13. Especially their in-depth coverage of The Gossip Girls...
  14. You overtippers perpetuate mediocre service. And by mediocre service, I'm referring to waitstaff who don't write things down, don't remember who ordered what, don't re-visit the table soon after serving entrees, don't know how to serve a bottle of wine, etc. And those kinds of waiters are the majority of what's out there in my experience. Unless you guys frequent 5-star places.
  15. If I had to answer with typical answers the last time I played madlibs (maybe aged 9?), the answers would be "FARTS" and "BOOBS"
  16. usually only when on vacation, and at a place for several nights.
  17. I usually give bartenders $1 per drink, and somewhere between 16-20% for waitstaff (I divide the bill by 5, then 6, and tip something in between). When I waited tables, I always found that the people who were the most vocal about "what a great meal it was" were the ones who tipped the least. Waiting on a table full of a group of geezers who want separate checks was THE WORST for tips.
  18. Could have been the corked bats... Does his use of corked bats (oh yeah, they were only for batting practice, because everyone knows how useful it is to practice with a cheaters bat during batting practice, then use the "real" bat during the game) cast further doubt on the issue of his juicing?
  19. Dedicated follower of fashion Tired of waiting for you Nothin in the world can stop me worrying about that girl Stop your sobbing Sunny afternoon Picture Book
  20. Ouch! No Joshua Tree? No Sign O The Times? No Pleased to Meet Me? No By the Light of the Moon? Those are 4 1987 albums that still get play on my stereo...
  21. Whenever I sing along to The Beatles -1 "Real Love", my eyes well up during the bridge and chorus, EVERY TIME, like some kind of Pavlovian dog.
