  1. A new Decemberists album would be great. Not sure if they've been working on anything new though.
  2. Yeah, as much as it pains me to admit, it's not really a memorable album. I could take a song or two from it, but overall it's not something I'm longing to revisit. I edited my list of top albums and replaced it with the Drive-By Trucker's album, which I find myself wanting to listen to again and again.
  3. Thanks, kidsmoke. I very much appreciate the kind words & well-wishes. My best to you & yours (and to all of us) in the new year.
  4. Last year had its ups and downs and certainly ended with a cluster of disappointments for me. However, my dad licked cancer again (a second type of lyphoma), and he's still with us. For that I'm eternally grateful and hopeful for a better new year. All my best to everyone to VC.
  5. Rogue One, which i really liked; and incredibly for the first time, Miracle on 34th Street (the original).
  6. Merry Christmas, VC friends! Or Happy Hanukkah. Wishing everyone at VC the very best this holiday season and in the coming year.
  7. All the best to you, chuck. Sending positive vibes your way.
  8. Did anyone catch Michael Stipe on Colbert last night? Good stuff! 9. Good news. Hoping a tour will follow. Their live shows are not to be missed.
  10. I love the Decemberists' live shows. I only wish they'd tour the South more frequently because I can't get enough of them.
  11. Afghan Whigs - performing "Black Love" in its entirety - with Mark Lanegan, And DiFranco, Morning 40 Federation, King James & the Special Men, & C.C. Adcock & the Lafayette Marquis - at the Civic Theatre in NOLA Probably my last show of the year.
  12. Peter Buck - He couldn't have been more approachable. He posed for a picture with me, autographed my album cover and got Scott McCaughey to sign as well for me. We talked about R.E.M.'s last album and New Orleans restaurants. One of the coolest celebrities I've ever encountered. Mike Mills - Also very nice. We talked Atlanta Braves baseball and Dale Murphy (about whom he wrote a song for the Baseball Project). He posed for a picture with my friend and me and signed my ticket stub. Mavis Staples - Met her by pure luck at the Grammy Museum in Cleveland, MS on the day of her show. She was t
  13. R.E.M. with Wilco opening at Red Rocks in 2003. My two favorite bands at an incredible venue underneath a full moon. R.E.M. played my favorite song, "I Believe." Runner-up would be R.E.M.'s set at Voodoo Fest in 2008 (which would prove to be their final performance in the U.S. ever). I stood right in front of the stage for about two hours before their set just to secure my spot. The presidential election was nearing, and the band was in fine form and full of energy that night.
