I'm just glad that autumn is here so I can enjoy a full-fledged dive back into AGIB, my favorite record to hear during this season.

Uncle Tupelo Reunion Tour. You heard it here first.
choo-choo-charlie replied to omahawilcofan's topic in Just A Fan
C'mon now, didn't you guys see that Wilco played "New Madrid" at the Columbia, Mo., show? Clearly Tweedy is warming up the old Tupe tunes for the reunion. -
You are much more into statistics than I am. I know some folks get tired of hearing many of the live staples at every show they attend, but I'm usually happy to just get a chance to see them at all. I've never seen multiple shows on one tour, so it's never really mattered to me how many times they've played a song or what I heard at the previous show 2 or 3 years before...

The same thing happened when my father passed away two years ago. After several days of complete unresponsiveness, he opened his eyes and gazed at my mom before he took his final breaths. Truly profound. Crow, may you find comfort in a lifetime of good memories, family and friends.

I heard that too on the first listen, but thought "this can't be the lyric..."

I'd suggest moving your inquiry to the In a Future Age forum.

Jay Bennett's Pedalboard - Name that pedal!

Sure thing - like I said, if you can't convert the .SHN files, let me know. -
When I'm in the mood for Wilco vinyl, Summerteeth is usually my go-to record.

It's like those writers who penned the articles saying YHF was a response to the events of Sept. 11, 2001 -- forcing a connection where there really isn't one at all.

^^ What the hell do the Romneys have to do with this awesome video?

I remember reading that bit as well, but it always made me laugh a bit. It sounds like Tweedy is dismissing Tom Petty -- yet "Listen to Her Heart" was a live staple during the A.M. tour.

There's something we agree on.

Nothing, actually.

Fair enough, though I disagree about Wilco aspiring to be The Wallflowers or Counting Crows. That might be what their label expected, but I think Tweedy was more interested in maintaining some of the UT fanbase, hence an album with very little risk. In fact, I'm certain he's been quoted saying something to that effect. While Being There might be more "fun," you can't deny that "Casino Queen" is the perfect soundtrack to a boozed-up night. Just listen to those whoops and hollers. They're rocking their asses off. I mean, any song with a riff like that -- that also features Brian Henneman clin

I'm gonna second this and recommend folks grab the preceding night at the same venue as well. Wilco had a great two-night stand in Minneapolis with some classic, albeit vulgar in some spots, Tweedy stage banter and smokin' hot playing. One of these nights has a very early version of She's a Jar, plus the BT-era cover of True Love Will Find You in the End.

Honestly, I've never understood this view. I hear a band that's having a lot more fun than Uncle Tupelo. I hear a band that doesn't take itself so seriously. I hear a looseness and a swagger that was absent in Uncle Tupelo, yet there was also a pop sensibility that wouldn't have flown in the UT world. In fact, I hear a lot of songs that Jay Farrar probably would've had no interest in playing. Is A.M. mostly labeled as twangy, "alt-country" in the same vein as UT? Perhaps, but I don't hear it that way.

I have recently revisited W(TA) songs in their live incarnations, which in my opinion is the best way to hear them. I didn't like the production on W(TA) very much. A.M. is terrific -- it just has the unfortunate spot of being the first album, and so many great ones came after it.
