R.I.P. to everyone's favorite father/politician/law enforcement figure. Local news story and video from here in eastern NC, Griffith's home. http://www.witn.com/home/headlines/SHERIFF__EMS_Called_To_Andy_Griffiths_Home_161201175.html

I fail to understand how not performing songs off WTA (therefore not promoting them) helps Nonesuch sell more copies of said album.

http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=hamilt002bil Reds INF prospect Billy Hamilton has stolen 94 bases in 74 games! Perhaps he'll bring back the 100 base mark to MLB in a few years, although, considering all those errors, he may have to do it as an outfielder.
-
If Hamilton leaves there's not many quality left-handed power hitters that can be acquired. Unless the Rangers target guys like Jay Bruce and Nick Markakis, the only true dynamic player that may be available is Carlos Gonzalez. Texas certainly has enough to package up for Cargo. Mike Olt strikes out as much as he hits, but he could pound 50 homers in Colorado. Reading Olt's stats and scouting reports, I get the impression he is Pat Burrel, but with an ability to use a glove.

The High Heat replied to dmhphoto's topic in Just A Fan
If I was there and requested Feed of Man, that probably would tick off Tweedy.- 22 replies

http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120627&content_id=34023200&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb Yanks pitching has gotten short in the last 24 hours. Sabathia to the DL with a groin strain and Pettitte has a fractured ankle. Cashman has been saying he's probably not going to be making any trades, so maybe these injuries makes the Yankees an active team in this summer's trade market.

..and how many predators he created.

Got that for Christmas when I was seven. You could also look through the back of his head to view his bionic eyesight.

He'll just have to do as many as the 442 years as he can.

No. Don't worry, there are plenty more phones and Volkswagens for sale. Check your local dealer.

I'd say that knuckleball is at the peak of its dancing career. When they were with the Rangers it was Buck Schowalter who told Dickey that learning the knuckler would be his only chance at sticking around in MLB. Great advice. Last night Schowalter's Orioles were treated to a one-hit performance by Dickey, whose previous start was also a one-hitter. If he wins the Cy perhaps he should share it with Schowalter.

R.A. Dickey should probably be the NL's starting pitcher in the ASG: "...Dickey, who is 11-1 with a 2.00 ERA in 14 outings. Since May 15, 2011, Dickey's 2.42 ERA ranks third in baseball, trailing that of reigning Cy Young Award winners Justin Verlander and Clayton Kershaw by four-hundredths of a run. Over his last six starts, Dickey is 6-0 with a 0.18 ERA in 48 2/3 innings. He has given up 21 hits, struck out 63 batters and allowed five walks. His 42 2/3 consecutive innings without an earned run are the most by a Mets pitcher since Gooden in 1985."

Hey, speaking of issues, Manny is a free agent again. Anyone interested?

Popmarket has The Promise (Deluxe) as today's daily deal - $60 until noon tomorrow. They also have Springsteen Live 3 cd set ('75-'85) for $22 as a weekly deal. No tax or shipping costs. I got both sets for $82 total! Been planning to use my saved-up B&N gift cards on The Promise, now I can use it on something else. Maybe I'll go ahead and get the the remaining 4 or 5 Dylan albms I don't have yet.

100 new jobs that didn't exist (And are they permanent or temp?) or 100 hires including replacing the people who quit and those who were terminated and/or exterminated?

Jim Thome is on fire since coming off the DL. His last six games: .458 (11-24), 2 doubles, 3 HRs, 3 BBs, 7 runs, and 13 RBI. He hit a 466 bomb to center, over the batter's eye the other night: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120613&content_id=33260300&vkey=news_phi&fext=.jsp&c_id=phi Hopefully he'll be able to play the field in half the games until Ryan Howard gets back. The Phillies need someone with true power in the lineup.
