  1. I voted yes. So does it just average everybody's ratings I assume or is there some other fancy math going on? If I say an album is a 10 and the next guy votes it a 1 it becomes a 5 on the list?
  2. If you are by yourself, something you can sing along with loudly (and know the words). I like Pink Floyd "Animals" for that reason. I know every word. Physical Graffiti is good too.
  3. The only Hemingway I have read was "A farewell to arms" back in middle school. It did not leave a good impression on me so never went back for more.
  4. I don't know how you can be a songwriter and not have the last 8 years creep in at least in some way. I did fine financially but put me in the camp that says the last 8 years politically (war deaths, economy, torture, holding people without just cause, wiretapping, knowing that a moron was running our country, etc...) were quite painful and worthy of talking about in song. I'm not saying Bush was responsible for all of it but do I think Gore would have been much less painful to live through? I know that to be true to the very fiber of my being. How could it not have been? Wait, is this t
  5. That's a song (Kashmir) I have heard 1000 times and I still crank it up to 10 every time it comes on. Never gets old. I learned Rain song on guitar once and played it for like 2 hours straight because it even sounded good with me playing it. Amazing songwriting.
  6. What can I say, it was $2.99. When does that Grizzly Bear come out officially. I can't wait to...ahem...hear it!
  7. Oh hell yeah. Even Plant says this is one of his finest vocals. The guitars are unreal on that.
  8. I think you need a new key grip (I little dark) but that was cute!
  9. Most def. Some great slide work from Pagey on that one.
  10. Yeah, there could be a hidden pay raise for congress in there for all I could tell.
  11. He has also recorded with Insane Clown Posse and Daughtry, didn't work there either.
  12. I wish I had video of one of my daughters at 4 singing "I miss the innocence I've known, playing Kiss covers so beautiful and stoned". Those were very cute!
  13. One of John Bonham's finest moments as well. That song just rocks.
  14. Just out of curiosity, has anyone tackled Proust? In search of lost time?
  15. Just saw the movie tonight. They really did stick very close to the novel which was cool. It was a long one. I thought the same thing about the music, some of the songs were just distracting and were poor choices. I really don't like the My chemical romance "Desolation Row" at the end either.
  16. Interesting choice but a good one.
  17. I am thinking about getting this one (Steppin out with the GD) but I'm confused that some say Live in parenthesis and some don't. Is this CD not entirely Live? I was also thinking about getting Dick's Picks #8 but I was reading about some of these being 2 track vs. multitrack and that they may not sound as good so I was unsure about that. I'm making this more complicated than it has to be but these CD's are not cheap. Steppin out is $32 and Dick's Picks is like $42 on amazon which is a lot of coin for me. Disc: 1 1. Cold Rain and Snow 2. Greatest Story Everr Told 3. Mr. Charlie 4. Sugar
  18. Picked these up tonight at the local independent record store. I like to give them as much business as possible. Edgar Winter and Yaz were like 5 bucks each.
  19. Agreed, Infidels has some great stuff as well. Under the red sky however...
  20. Went to the local independent record store tonight and they had the new U2 on Vinyl for $30 bones. Too expensive for my taste although it was tempting. Man I love a good indy store. They have cool shit on the walls like a bulletin board full of old grateful dead tickets. I can spend hours in there.
  21. Having the Roots as your house band is a very good start but I have not watched it yet. Took Conan a little while to find his stride. I assume his show was not the mess Chevy's was?
