Black Keys cover of "Dearest", as always with the Black Keys, sounds fantastic: Black Keys cover "Dearest"

Loved these guys live but have not picked up the album yet. I might be slightly in love with Sarah Barthel.

I thought the pep rally atmosphere was a little strange after his death but then again, blindly exuberant displays of nationalism always kind of freak me out. And if torture is what led to this than I really don't think it was worth it. But I do think the world is a better place without him.

Apparently fans from the fertile south american lowlands. I admire the journey they took to get to the show.

Well that kind of takes some of the joy out of it for me.

Streaming on NPR, loving it.

I like Patton Oswalds comment: No matter how collected Obama is during his speech, he's hearing LL Cool J's "Mama Said Knock You Out" blasting in his head.

My hatred of the Lakers is so thick and rich you could drizzle it over pancakes, so that makes up for anything at this point. Have to admit, Atlanta looks much tougher than I expected.

Amazing album, in my top 5 as well. Lorelai is one of the more beautiful and heartbreaking songs to come along in a long time. I was old news to you then... What a great line.

That's kind of my issue. It seems alarmist for no real good reason. I guess I could wear a lead apron around and start popping the Iodine pills but other than that what can I do? I have found your posts interesting Sparky so sorry to hear you are so frustrated.

Weasels ripped my Nudie

Ok, I take everything back about buying new stuff. Both of those would be nice additions to the collection.

But that was Arnold and a friend, not Willis, right? I think Willis might have beat his ass.

I used to want a vintage guitar but never really got around to buying one. These days I really like to just buy everything new as the quality of guitars being made at Fender, Gibson, Taylor, etc... are really high right now. I like that when I pick up my 1988 strat (I think I payed $600), every dent and scratch is something I put on it. I will be playing a gig with that guitar in a few weeks and it sounds and plays better than ever. It's becoming vintage before my eyes which is kind of cool. There is something to be said about the feel and sound of a vintage guitar. I guess that's why th

I visited the Buddy Holly crash site a few years back and they have a small memorial set up there in the middle of the cornfield. It's kind of odd, I could see leaving a guitar pick or something but people left library cards and other forms of ID, necklaces, all sorts of weird stuff. I wonder how Buddy would have fared going into the 60's, would he have adapted or would he have kind of faded away?

We should refer to this as "the Cheese age"

They have the technology to actually injection mold cheese directly into the crust now at Pizza Hut.

I actually picked up the Buddy Holly Box set last year, pretty amazing output from a guy who died at 22 years old. I wonder if McCartney still owns the Buddy Holly catalog. I can totally hear JTE doing Maybe Baby.

Maybe guitar world screwed up and he really meant DADF#AD instead of DADFAD?

Fear of a smarmy planet

Agreed, it does come across as very pessimistic regardless of intent.

I like to think of it as hopeful and heartfelt but you could be right.

I had Poetry Man on a K-Tel record when I was about 8. She must have been pretty young when she recorded that. Lovely voice she had.
