  1. Unless you only skimmed the thread, seems to me you should have seen some sympathetic Americans, too. What they've said is "scheduling issues". Until we see them turn up at another date that makes them more money, I think you're taking a leap there. Maybe someone has a medical problem that they'd rather not broadcast to the world, and needs to see a specific doctor during that week. Hell, maybe someone's mother is having a major surgery that week, and the band doesn't feel the need to broadcast someone else's medical issues. I'm just playing devil's advocate to your post here, but a
  2. Does that mean I shouldn't write a letter? Because I was already working on a first draft...
  3. No, to my great shame, I don't have a list. That's one of the reasons I thought etree would be good, it looks like it's pretty easy to add a show to your list if other people have already entered the info for it. For a while there, I was seeding 24/7. It was easier on the VC tracker though, I just sort of concentrated on the shows that were going there.
  4. Yeah, for a while there I was downloading everything, and I've still got a good chunk of them archived on DVDs. I had a bit of a hard-drive meltdown though, and I've scaled back considerably. I've been meaning to put what I've got on etree, since that seems to be a good system for comparing who's got what. I wonder if there would be some way to add a link to the etree entry for the show on wilcobase? I know I wouldn't be any help with that project (no coding skillz), and I hate to pile anything more on Rob, but that would be pretty handy. Also, people could put their etree usernames some
  5. There's been some discussion of this by the mods. I suggested that there be links to those sections in After the Show, with an explanation of how each forum is supposed to work. No final decision yet, but your suggestion is not being ignored, it's still just in the mulling-over stage.
  6. I thought I posted in this one already! Best wishes, Lou. Sounds like you're on your way to a good recovery, just keep resting, we'll be waiting for your full return.
  7. As expected, not a lot of concern from these kids. The 12 year old said that her friend Gillian doesn't believe it, then giggled. The 10 year old shrugged. And the 8 year old, when asked if he was surprised, said "not really". My dad, who has not actually read the books, seems to be the only person in my family really concerned by this. And my mom and aunt kept calling him "Dumbledorff", so their opinions were immediately disregarded.
  8. I've been meaning to ask my nieces (ages 12 and 10) and nephew (age 8) about this. It keeps slipping my mind though, I think because I'm pretty sure it really won't really be a big deal to them. They live in a world where it's not an issue if their friends have two moms or two dads, or that there's a kid in the 4th grade who is a boy but dresses like a girl. I do wonder if they've heard this though, and if their reaction is as disinterested as I'm expecting it to be.
  9. I remind a lot of people of a drunk Father Mulcahy. Except he wears ocularia, and I don't.
  10. I think I've heard you refer to them as "ocularia", but I might be wrong. In fact, that might not even be a real word.
  11. Well, the Australian tour in 2003 did give us a nice little one-off show in San Francisco, so I'd go for that.
  12. I'd never heard of this movie, but as a fan of accordion music of all genres, I've added it to my queue.
  13. That is about the cutest thing I've ever heard!
  14. I can totally picture this! He's a cutie, Mart. Have fun!
  15. I'm in! (Lamest Halloween avatar ever! Why did I have to post right after j4artsyguy!)
  16. They don't all get a poster, Iowa City didn't. I don't know the whys and hows of which shows get individual posters, though. I agree, I always like a poster from a specific show.
  17. I can't believe that that one thing says they never saw what was so gay about Samwise Gamgee.
  18. You are nasty. Ewww! I can't believe I'm the first person to post these: Ten Other Fictional Characters Whose Outings Won't Shock Us That Much Fairy Tales: Radar outs closeted childhood icons (Credit to Trish, who sent them to me.)
  19. Damn. Hoping for you all that it doesn't get any worse, and people can start heading home soon.
  20. No, it's a whole different stereotype (actually, there are a whole lot of stereotypes rolled into one), but for a lot of people now, "Texas" seems to just stand for "Bush's home state", and they're not even bothering to go with the classic stereotype anyway.
  21. I'm exactly a week late on this, but Oh, really...? How the hell were we not standing in the exact same place?!? All my Wilco pix are here and a few Andrew Bird shots are here.
  22. Internet asshole - you have no idea how lame you sound. Don't be surprised when you get suspended.
  23. http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?sho...=30282&st=0 There's a pretty extensive discussion of the whole soundtrack going on over in Someone Else's Song. This is definitely one of those odd ones, could go here for Tweedy (and Nels) discussion, or over there for everyone else on the soundtrack. Most of it's over there though, if you want to join in.
