And of course, it's not your only baby. That's a pretty sweet one in the corner of the home page, too.

Different John Crowley. No, I'm just being an ass, he's a fine-arts guy in Boston, from around Weymouth/Quincy originally. -

And, do you know John Crowley and/or Paul Leary? -
I was looking for some of the more typical old Punch cartoons depicting the Irish as apes, but this one doesn't just hint, it puts it right out there: I was thinking more along the lines of something like this one: This is interesting too, from Harper's Weekly: Basically trying to show that the Irish and the Negro are more closely related to each other than they are to the "Anglo-Teutonic". So yeah, I'd say it's racist. But it's probably more stupid than it is racist. A hundred years from now, hopefully we'll look at something like that the way we look at the Punch cart

Just a reminder: Keep checking that forum, and this thread. Believe me, when it's available, people will be talking!

I did not watch either show this week, but I'm already picking Anoop for one of the "wild card" spots.

some DVD info, but mostly about Blu-Ray
gogo replied to grateful dead's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I was considering going through and moving all the non-BluRay posts to the other thread, but the more I think about it, that would be kind of a pain in the ass to do. Let's just move it! -

Well, you did kind of bring the personal smack-down element into it... Let's all just try to keep it civil, and on-topic. Or has that ship already sailed? And sunk? Again, I'd like to refer people to a thread that has some pretty good actual information about the DVD: http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?sho...=37877&st=0 -
I'm bumping this one, with the hope that any actual DVD-related conversation will end up in here from now on.

Oh no wait... maybe I am a yuppie... Nope, too old to qualify! -

Let's try to keep it civil, folks. We're just discussing a new format here, after all. Skyline, there's a much more informative thread here. -

I'll do my best, but if you check out any of my posts in After The Show, you'll see that reviewing is not really one of my strong suits. Will definitely report back, though. -

I will be seeing it next Wednesday (double feature with the Johnny Cash at Folsom movie, and then Largo the next night). -
Thanks Jules, yes, you're right, this was the oh-so-informative thread that I was thinking of. And thanks to whoever merged these, I should have just done that in the first place!

You'll probably find the answers to all of your questions in this thread: http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?showtopic=38650 along with much discussion of the relative merits of blu-ray.

Ooh, that does look fun! Kyle, have you ever been? The one and only time I went, the vibe was very cool and relaxed, I had a great time. And the setting is fantastic, of course.

There is a subforum on this site that is dedicated exclusively to downloads of shows, and where to find them: http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?showforum=29 Also in that area, you'll find tutorials on how to download, convert, etc., plus lots of friendly people who are willing to answer any related questions. In general, we ask folks to wait a week before asking about the show's availability. It's usually not just a question of taping it and then popping it onto a site for us all to download. Most of the tapers will spend some time slicing it into tracks (at the very least), equali -
True, but there's usually somebody (didn't Amy Winehouse's father come out in the UK press and ask people to stop letting her get away with this shit?) who does say something, even if it's totally ineffectual.

If it's real, I feel bad for him, because he's already dealt with some f-ed up things in his life, and obviously it would be good if he was dealing with those things in a healthy way. And if it's real, I also feel bad for Casey Affleck, and JP's manager or whoever else should be helping him deal with this situation rather than booking him on talk shows, and David Letterman and whoever on his staff let him go on in that condition, because all of those people are probably going to hell. I'm guessing if it was real, at least one of those people would have stepped up and made some effort to co

Yeah, 30 Rock spoofed this with the Black Crusaders thing. Apparently he felt that powerful African-Americans were planning to take him down, based on the representations of black people on his show.

OK, I'll play around with that, then. Thanks, all!

OK, I like the multiple votes of confidence for this one! Now, can someone confirm for me that this is going to work for even a non-techy person/group of people? I download and install the software, open up a webpage that I want my friends to be able to view, and then what? Do they also have to have the same program installed, or can I just send them a link or an invitation or something to let them view my desktop? The reason I was leaning toward yugma, above, is that from what I can tell from the tutorials, etc., the other people don't have to have anything (besides Java) installed.
