  1. Why are so many people on VC named Jen, Kevin, and Chris?
  2. Yeah, and he was in Holes. He was a cute kid, and it would be nice if this was standard young-adult assholery, and he wises up eventually. My nieces like to just say "Shia LaBeouf!" for no reason.
  3. Polls close Thursday at 11:59:59pm! Get those votes in!
  4. I know it goes without saying, but I really wish I was there with you all.
  5. Hey, Kalle, congrats! And thanks for the tunes, I'm downloading now.
  6. Ha! I can't believe he's old enough. Good for him, though. But it different than when we were 16, isn't it? No driving with other kids in the car, etc. The real trouble starts when he's 18!
  7. For Wilco Worshipper. It's a couple of weeks old now, but I kept forgetting to post it. Also, kind of a neat (and, kind of old...) blog thingy about David Cook's win, and pop culture in general: http://lefsetz.com/wordpress/index.php/arc.../27/david-cook/
  8. We were wondering if the burrito talk would smoke you out!
  9. The Top 100 will be posted in this thread. The full list of all vote-getting albums will be available as a google-docs spreadsheet. And, here is the official one-week-to-go reminder of the rules. Remember to e-mail them in, folks!
  10. Yeah, the two in SF that are closing are the two in the big malls downtown (which are just two blocks from each other). There are plenty here that remind me of that scene in Best in Show where Parker Posey's character is explaining to the therapist how she met her husband: "We met at Starbucks. Not at the same Starbucks but we saw each other at different Starbucks across the street from each other. " I'm reading the quotes online, and I'd forgotten how much I enjoy that scene: Hamilton Swan: I remember what I was drinking when I met you. It was a grande espresso. Meg Swan: That's right.
  11. When the person who goes for the burritos (usually the same person, but sometimes someone else will step up) for our Burrito Night comes back, everyone starts peppering her with questions: "who made them?" (yes, we have favorite burrito makers...); "are they overloaded?"; "are they messy?"; "did he 'belt' the cheese?" (referring to the placement of the cheese, relative to the way the tortilla is wrapped). Yeah, we're way too into this!
  12. Oh no! Keep on taking care of yourself, missy. You're almost there now!
  13. We're 9th and Lincoln Gordo's people. And as Brianne noted, Friday night is traditionally Burrito Night at our place, so it's good to know that we'll be able to hold that event at the festival.
  14. No need to wait, she's taken them directly from the Owl & Bear site: http://www.owlandbear.com/wilco-archive/ (See the pinned thread at the top of this section; tons of great stuff on that site, including info on how to deal with lossless files.)
  15. OK, if you've submitted your vote, you should have received an e-mail back from me (I just got caught up). If you haven't received a return e-mail, let me know. We've got over 400 different albums on the list, and there is some interesting stuff on there. Although even having said that, I'd still like to see a lot more responses! I know it's human nature to put it off until the last minute, but remember, there's only a little more than a week left. Get those votes in!
  16. Kind of important news: Gordo's to appear at Outside Lands
  17. This essay in the New York Times book review section yesterday discusses the Young Adult publishing "ghetto", and one author is even quoted as saying "There isn
  18. It seriously took me a couple of seconds to figure out who that was in the middle.
