  1. eh, depending on the band I am fine w/ a 75 minute set. i don't need 2 hr shows all the time.
  2. U2 knows where to hang i see some complaining about Frontgate, but honestly how would you improve the process? obviously demand far outstrips supply, esp for a presale situation...i did presale in the same venue for Belle and Sebastian last year and got balcony seats about 10 rows back. a friend waited for the regular sale two days later and got ~8 rows from the stage. you never know.
  3. their performance last night on Palladia was pretty cool.

  5. i don't think that Wilco was the cause for those ticket prices. and $75 for GA was the best deal in town for that particular night.
  6. 1 - i was a fan but not a huge fan of UT...i think the 1st Wilco i got though was BT, not AM. can't remember lo these many years ago 2 - first time seeing them was on the YHF tour in '02 i believe. at the orpheum in boston. unfortunately never saw Jay w/ the band.
  7. my friend Max and i did an interview w/ Ty @ solid sound...very nice guy. i gotta spend some time w/ Melted.
  8. turntable.fm, not last.fm i think it's pretty fun. but getting in the right room is key.
  9. i think there are proxys around that? but yeah...it's a US thing i think. hey, we can't get Spotify...
  10. i didn't see that on the program schedule.
  11. i was thinking about pavement but GBV took that particular niche for me.
  12. my alternate top 10, based on personal preference and perceived influence (in no particular order...can't be arsed to spend too much time thinking about it)...for this list i am not putting in 'person x and y band' like springsteen or petty...pretty arbitrary decision i know... jefferson airplane sonic youth byrds black flag REM nirvana funkadelic/parliament stooges CCR guided by voices
  13. they put out some great records but #2? yeesh, their output since say, Permanent Vacation was awful, and I'm being kind w/ that end point.
  14. man, what another great weekend. i have had the photos done for a while but immediately went on vacation after the fest and just finished my review. there are a few interviews that will be forthcoming too, but in the meantime here's the main review and photos: http://www.bigtakeover.com/concerts/solid-sound-festival-curated-by-wilco-mass-moca-north-adams-ma-june-24-26-2011 if there's one photo that sums up the weekend, it might be this one i was afraid of my gear dying in the rain, not to mention the loads of droplets on the front lens element, but sometimes you luck out. i put
  15. the doors and eagles at 12 and 13 makes me cringe.
  16. i'd heard the new stuff was taken down, and assumed it was Wilco's wishes (after all, there were plenty of 'please don't videotape' signs scattered around...weird that Warners is involved.
  17. the new Thurston Moore record is ridiculously beautiful.
  18. assuming you liked the previous Vile records, how could the new one stack up as a disappointment? if anything, his songwriting's gotten stronger. i really love "on tour' and "runners up" there are a few really great records so far this year. i like: blood ceremony - living with the ancients grails - deep politics vile - smoke ring alvarius b - baroque primitiva mogwai - hardcore will never die but you will lifeguards (r pollard and d gillard) - waving at the astronauts
