  1. i caught 'Oh Comely' live on the stream last night. it was pretty awesome.
  2. was fortunate to have seen the man play three times...he was a master of the form, with a dry wit and compelling style.
  3. MMJ's It Still Moves is ridiculous...wtf is w/ that hideous bear?
  4. the fact that you've limited what you think is a hypothetical situation to only 10 discs says it all about your credentials to properly judge this sort art form.
  5. holy crap, Pearl of the Quarter and Boston Rag! kicking myself. well, tonight i'm gonna see Swans and Sir Richard Bishop and Wovenhand.
  6. sounds like you need to build the Prog Rock Hall of Fame.
  7. i read that Steve Albini bought as much tape as he could afford to when the last US plant stopped making stuff.
  8. report back on their setlist...i was interested, but in the end it was far too much $$$.
  9. Here's my review and photo gallery: http://www.prefixmag.com/photos/stephen-malkmus-and-the-jicks-holy-sons-royale-pic/
  10. i gotta write my review of the show tonight, but it was a great one...definitely go see him on this tour.
  11. autumnteeth, i think you are over-thinking things...spin the clock back 20 years ago and a band the profile of Wilco would easily be playing arenas. the fact that they are playing ~2-3K theaters means that tickets are in more demand. and do you think 'real fans' never buy off stubhub or ebay or the like? how did you get to that conclusion? maybe they got shutout like everyone else, and wanted to go to the show regardless. maybe the true answer is to do a dutch auction on ebay for every single seat. then the market would decide. but i'm guessing the average price would be a lot more
  12. it lengthens their tour 2-3x...so i doubt it'll happen. sure, there've been residencies by bands before, but not extensive tours built around multi-date stops at each city. just booking it would be a nightmare in terms of avoiding conflicts w/ other band tours.
  13. maybe they should work "Devil Went Down To Georgia" or "Flirtin' WIth Disaster" into their live shows.
  14. Steve Malkmus + Holy Sons. rather great show!
  15. well here are the stats from Boston in terms of songs played from LPs: 1 The Whole Love (7) 2 A Ghost Is Born (3) Yankee Hotel Foxtrot (3) 4 Being There (2) Wilco (The Album) (2) 6 A.M. (1) Sky Blue Sky (1) Summerteeth (1)
  16. looks like leftovers from the Animal Collective Crack Box set.
  17. 1.a. Who is your favorite American band/solo act/ensemble/dance troupe/whatever label applies that is currently "active" (meaning - still making records or still touring)? Sonic Youth 2. Who are in your top 10 all time? Sonic Youth X Dinosaur Jr Sun City Girls Stooges Wilco Guided By Voices Pavement Tar Thinking Fellers Union Local 282 3. In your top 10 all time, all world list, how many are American? (I've discovered my tastes definitely lean towards England). sorry,i missed that question 2 wasn't just isolated to US bands, which is how i answered it, top 10 non-US bands would inc
  18. i haven't had time to open the plastic wrap yet...maybe tonight.
  19. nice shots. this one and the Nels one leaning back w/ the light mostly on his face are my faves. btw for clarification, Fighting Tinnitus is not a subsidiary of tinnitus photography i am kinda bummed to hear that shooters were staged at the wings of the stage edge...had i known that, i would have put in for the show. I did ask the PR rep for shooting restriction clarifications but never heard back, unfortunately. what was the general vibe like on the floor? were people standing much of the time? the balcony was reserved...people didn't stand until the encore, and even then it was not a
  20. sorry for getting so close to the Sex Nap/lawyer bickering, but I guess i interpreted this the wrong way agreed w/ the other post, that curfew is mostly influenced by stage hand/labor unions and OT...and for Comcast/BofA, possibly noise ordinances due to the open nature of the venue. maybe, but i don't know...i busted my ass to fight through Boston traffic, park, and get to the venue in time so we could get a wrist band before 6:15 and then eat a leisurely dinner somewhere w/ our tickets in our pockets. moving this up 45 min would have made that plan untenable, and i didn't feel li
