  1. i ran into BT's tour manager last month and he mentioned Mascis was gonna play, but didn't spill any other details. i should probably make at least one of these shows.
  2. Simmons is funny. he gets a pass from me.
  3. wayne needs to mix up the set list...
  4. he flamed out pretty fast though.
  5. three best Sox closers that ive been able to see play papelbon lee smith bill campbell
  6. Meh. the guy's a decent writer (i like this line, even though i think it's pretty pointless - " (Wilco always seems like something you’d listen to in company; Feist is good at making you feel like you’re the only one hearing her.") but does he really think that records from Wilco, Malkmus and Neko Case are really that dull? I think _MIddle Cyclone_ is a tremendous record, one full of depth, both lyrically and musically. The post-Pavement Malkmus records are certainly worth comparing against Pavement's output. I'm not sure what sort of record he thinks these people should
  7. i've heard of this, but don't own a copy. didn't realize it came w/ a 7"
  8. my acronym machine broke. i meant ALTWYS had a Dream Syndicate mix-up.
  9. I saw The Damned wrap up this morning, does that count? they did their debut LP, and The Black Album. total nuttiness up front. good times in the sweat factory.
  10. nice! i hope his voice is still in good form from being on the road so long now. the boston show was excellent. i'm gonna see Dum Dum Girls tonight.
  11. great, great, great show. http://www.prefixmag.com/photos/wild-flag-eleanor-friedberger-the-paradise-picsrev/
  12. festivals don't count. at least for my rules. Sonic Youth (Neil Young) Wilco (Neil Young) The Clash (The Who) Helmet, Tar (The Jesus Lizard - two different tours) Cosmic Psychos (Bailter Space) Calexico (Neko Case) Neko Case (My Morning Jacket) My Morning Jacket (Tom Petty) Dinosaur Jr (Built To Spill) Grails (Om) Thinking Fellers Union Local 282 (Sun City Girls) Cat Power (Pretenders, Guided By Voices, Palace) X (Warren Zevon)
  13. it could be a Jarboe-less Swans situation, who knows.
  14. well, they did take a good chunk of time off before _Riot Now!_ came out.
  15. which other bands w/ married couples survived? or even bands w/ inter-personnel relations that didn't involve marriage? by my count (and some friends): X Superchunk Throbbing Gristle Shearwater Fleetwood Mac The Pixies Velvet Underground The Fall
  16. Crow...now there's a band i haven't figured would show up here...i really liked them. smoked some weed w/ the singer when they played a predominantly Sub Pop-based music fest in VT way back when.
  17. with Kim and Thurston announcing a separation, this throws serious doubts into whether or not Sonic Youth will continue. they are certainly one of my favorites, and embody a lot of what i feel music should be. fun, creative, expansive, powerful. they never really stayed in one place (though there is definitely an identifiable SY sound), and helped a lot of people along the way. their influence is pretty massive, given their relatively paltry record sales as measured by conventional standards. they might be the band I've seen the most play live, and they never ever came close to deliver
  18. heh, just downloading them from my cards right now! seriously, if you have a chance ,go see them. amazingly fun rock band.
  19. holy shit, Wild Flag fucking rocked. definitely one of the best shows i've seen all year.
  20. i saw the Clash w/ and w/o Mick Jones. i'll let you figure out what was the better show
  21. i saw them on the 16 Lovers Lane tour, and then a long time afterwards when it was just Robert and Grant when they reformed. that was probably just a year or two prior to Grant's passing. fantastic band.
