  1. pretty much this entire song, but esp this part: Taking inspiration from Husker Du It's a new generation of electric white boy blues
  2. Elf Power has a good one. there are a few bands that have done covers of entire LPs (Japancakes, Clawhammer, Pussy Galore, etc).
  3. 1st post to draw traffic to yr ill-formed opinions. no thanks.
  4. Silver Jews...Berman is fucking awesome w/ words. So if you don't want me I promise not to linger, But before I go I gotta ask you dear about the tan line on your ring finger. No one should have two lives, now you know my middle names are wrong and right. Honey we've got two lives to give tonight.
  5. KaBOOM! CtK out of nowhere w/ the blindside hit. how've you been, man?
  6. i don't doubt that Gallagher's written some good tunes, but 'original' is about the last adjective i'd use to describe them. maybe i need to check out this bloke's new LP.
  7. Doctor B's got it. that's a great one. here's one from Costello (who's got a lot of great lyrics): (sorry for the code but these lyric sites seem to make simple cut and paste impossible these days) You're upstairs with the boyfriend while I'm left here to listen. (Angry) I hear you calling his name, I hear the stutter of ignition. (Angry) I could hear you whispering as I crept by your door. So you found some other joker who could please you more. Chorus: I'm not angry, (Angry)
  8. you sure about that? there were a lot of records released...
  9. if you are a landscaper, don't worry about it.
  10. kurt vile - we tried to school you but you just cut class
  11. Will Oldham - When was the first time, you realized the next time, would be the last time?
  12. ok, i'll requote. THESE FUCKING RECORDS RULE MY FUCKING UNIVERSE, NOW AND FOR QUITE SOME TIME IN THE FUTURE. fuck yeah!
  13. au contraire, at least for me. these records i'll be listening to for quite some time in the future: Mogwai - hardcore will never die, but you will Grails - Deep Politics Kurt Vile - Smoke Ring For My Halo Slug Guts - Howlin' Gang Locrian - The Clearing Oranssi Pazazu - Kosmonument Lifeguards - Waving at the Astronauts
  14. it's definitely not the Whigs' fault, just a cruel coincidence.
  15. the Whigs are now filling in the Sunday slot for the UK ATP that GBV was supposed to play. I've seen the Whigs once, back in '92 or so.
  16. at the expense of GBV, no thanks. well, i'm sure they are not related, but just having spent the $ for the UK one next year, i would much rather see GBV again than the whigs.
  17. well it's unclear as to what 'break-up' means (and that whole concept of the band being back together is a bit weird anyway...they do have two records out, but i figured that was gonna be it, w/ some 2012 shows to tour on), but this sucks.
  18. a friend posted that on his FB this week, and there is some really funny stuff on that site.
  19. as part of his solo set in support of Buffalo Tom, Ted did a surprise (at least to me) cover of "Whiskey Bottle"...i didn't have the lens i would have preferred on my camera when the song started, but it'll have to do ps - watch it at 720 for best results http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ae723Rw1JtQ
  20. too much overlap w/ people who are Dream Theater fans.
