  1. some random ones: robert pollard [gbv] - solid, midwest dude. loves to drink and have fun. what's not to like? buzz osbourne [melvins] - funny as hell. sharp, sharp sense of wit. wasn't mean, though. jon spencer - mentioned i went to college w/ him, his wife (christina martinez) laughed. very nice, well-mannered. henry rollins - straightforward, as you'd expect al cisneros [om, sleep] - soft spoken, thoughful, somewhat reserved lou barlow [sebadoh, dinosaur] - over his petulant phase, by far. friendly, outgoing. david lowery [cracker/camper van] - wasn't really interested in talking...david
  2. no. the fact that you wear pink tutus in an unironic fashion makes you cool.
  3. 8 records in for GBV was arguably my favorite, _Alien Lanes_...and he'd go on to make 8 more GBV records, and then a few dozen LPs under his name or other projects. and for anyone who's listened to Boston Spaceships, it's clear that he is still cranking out high quality stuff.
  4. this was a FLAC of the "I Might" single...
  5. i just did comparison between the 128 rip and FLAC version, via headphones. not all that much of a difference, to be honest. the FLAC version was a bit fuller, for sure. but it wasn't black and white to me.
  6. things i have learned from this thread: Opinions matter! Some opinions are wrong!
  7. withholding judgment until i see the 8 track listing
  8. thanks for that! i have most of those songs but not all.
  9. why should the cd be the 'official' tracklisting? are cds more official than other media?
  10. the stream sounds good...ilstening on my headphones right now (Sennheiser 580s). i wonder what bit rate it's streaming at. and i wonder what Atticus thinks of the new record.
  11. thanks for solving that internal mental block! "Whole Love" sounds a bit like Nick Lowe's "And So It Goes"...wonder if that was intentional or not...
  12. was thinking a mellow DBT song myself. very strong record, excellent recording quality. "capitol city" is the weakest track so far but it's not offensive by any stretch. let's hear some more Nels wigouts, though.
  13. if you want to do any of those things. you'll need to talk to Wayne and get one of these:
  14. top 5? kurt vile lifeguards gralis mogwai blood ceremony
  15. i didn't see the tour, but Mogwai opening for either Pavement or The Cure would have been great. in their career, those are the only two times they've been an opening band on tour.
