  1. most of the stuff i am interested in are smaller pressing size things...take a look at the mail order operations of Forced Exposure, All That Is Heavy, Volcanic Tongue, Time-Lag, Eclipse, Fusetron, Aquarius, etc...that's where I get a lot of my music from, and the artists just can't sell a record for $10 if the pressing size is 500-1000...the economics just aren't there. $10 LPs are certainly way out of the norm for the stuff I browse. audiophile pressing or not. somehow I doubt your sincerity. on another board, we refer to this insanity as The Rock Curse.
  2. 140g vinyl pressing of previously-released material...the Wilco is a better deal. i wish LPs were priced at $10 a pop, but they aren't. so getting a 25% discount is pretty nice. CDs are generally worthless, and the only time I buy CDs these days are if I can't find the LP/wasn't pressed on vinyl, or if i find a good price on a used copy.
  3. find another 4LP box that's cheaper. btw, they also had the Neu! box set....4LP+12" and a 36 page book...that was listed for $250.
  4. yep. that one. was waiting for the pressing issue to be resolved. btw, my avatar is youngest son...i'm not nearly as blond. or young.
  5. not sure if this is in-store only and not web sales...i went to the Harvard Sq location today.
  6. you could land Kicking Television for $45... I got a bunch of stuff today for $130..DBT's new one for $16, among others.
  7. we're talking about a gay guy fronting a metal band here.
  8. those are great, as is Stained Class. they definitely cheesed out a bit, but the dual attack of Tipton and Downing is pretty good. they are a band i only really started listening to in the last couple of years.
  9. i caught the _British Steel_ tour and enjoyed it, and their _Nostradamus_ record of a couple years back was quite excellent.
  10. Bill Callahan would be a great choice. So would Sonic Youth, and they are pretty close by. I don't really have any strong feelings, though...I think that Wilco had an excellent variety of performers, and I think they can easily duplicate the breadth of last year's lineup.
  11. Safe As Milk or maybe Bat Chain Puller. I've got the Grow Fins box set on shuffle right now.
  12. The good captain surfaced in the recent 'respected artists that do nothing for you' and the sad news hit today that he's passed on to another place. He certainly isn't everyone's cup of tea, but he was musically fearless and charted new boundaries that no one else considered. Sail on.
  13. $225 (plus whatever shipping would be) is a pretty fair price for a lavish, 19 cd box set.
  14. yeah, the Savoy Mt campsite was excellent. am bummed it's booked solid.
  15. agreed; Beefheart does have better records than TMR...not sure why that one is singled out so often.
  16. if there are more people, they need to figure out a better system for funneling people from the gift shop/lobby area out into the patio/deck/courtyard area.
  17. it was a great setting, imo...the capacity of the inside venue made things a bit cramped (esp when rain forced some shows indoors), but the outside courtyard and fields were perfect. and as noted above, the food options on site were pretty solid (let's hope for a better beer selection next year...). one thing i just realized is that the 24th is the last day of school for my kids, assuming no snow days...hmmm... i do get that it's out of the way for people who don't live in the northeast, but isn't that generally true for bonnaroo and coachella? i have never been to either, so i might b
  18. when is the last time you pulled this out? but yeah, generally unassailable.
  19. were you @ Savoy Mt? I stayed there last year and it was great. I just called and they are sold out for that weekend. Damn, where there a lot of speculators snapping up reservations left and right???
