strange...i called when the dates were announced and was told they had no openings. maybe someone canceled?
-
i camped last year @ Savoy Mountain and was hoping to do so again but that weekend was sold out before SSF dates were announced. bummer.

Delux is still there, but if it's crowded it's a PITA. i used to live in the South End, and I do miss it periodically. walking distance to a lot of good places, and some truly excellent restaurants.

[photos] Robert Plant and Band of Joy
tinnitus photography replied to tinnitus photography's topic in After The Show
you can definitely post the link to the Zep list, or anywhere else for that matter. thanks! -
I had the good fortune to be approved for the Plant show the other night...i enjoyed the style of music he was doing, and he didn't turn his back on the Zep catalog either...granted, the arrangements were much different, but the performances were still great. he knows he can't pull off the cock rock swagger of the early material, so he morphed it into something different, yet still relevant. due to the waiver i signed, i can't put up the photos anywhere aside from the outlet i was shooting for, but you can see 'em here: http://www.prefixmag.com/photos/robert-plant-and-band-of-joy-north-mi

_Sandanista!_ has some undeniably great material on it, but could you really call the entire thing great?

dammit, that JT solo show is the same night as J Mascis/K Vile, and about 120 miles farther away... -

the criteria is 'great' LPs, and i think that's a pretty high bar to clear. The Delgados The Chameleons Stooges (i guess 3 LPs is cheating)

Harpers is reborn as Brighton Music Hall. Don't forget The Middle East either...right next to TT's, decent mideastern food, good bar, and two rooms of music. my favorite bar is Bukowski, and Redbones also has a good beer selection. Deep Ellum is a solid pick too. haven't been to the Publick House but it's supposed to be good. oh, Lord Hobo is also got a pretty diverse selection and their food is reckoned to be excellent.

Pre-presale sold out in about 30 seconds??
tinnitus photography replied to Ricksmith's topic in Just A Fan
Browner...buck up, little camper. even at $40/day, it's still a good deal (esp if two separate Wilco performances will be delivered). i'm suspecting that word of mouth from the 1st time has increased its popularity (and rightly so, last year's festival was really a great time). -

nah, no big deal...i can cover it for another media outlet that i shoot for, or maybe we can double-up for Prefix (i've done that in the past for festivals, as there's a lot to cover...I've had good luck getting approved via Deb so I don't think it'll be an issue.) -

hey, i was looking @ the photo assignments for prefixmag today and noticed someone already claimed SSF...turns out it was you! -
forgetting each night's headliner, i am hard pressed to figure out who of the next three font sizes i'd be interested in seeing over the weekend... 1st night...probably black keys (who i've seen) and cee-lo green 2nd night...the kills (woh i've seen) and erykah badu (perhaps BAD from purely a nostalgia angle) 3rd night...PJ Harvey (who i saw w/ John Parish but not solo), maybe The National (i've seen a couple of times). of all the bands there that i'd want to see and already haven't, it's pretty much just Warpaint, Menomena, Joy Formidable and Tame Impala.
