  1. well that song was written over 20 years ago. maybe he invested heavily in the Japanese nuclear industry since then.
  2. review and some photos of J's show w/ Kurt: http://www.prefixmag.com/photos/j-mascis-kurt-vile-brighton-music-hall-boston-pics/ and a video of "Little Fury Things"
  3. i'm pretty sure that i don't need an audience sing-along to make the concert good for me. in fact, i think i'd probably prefer not have it, at an acoustic show.
  4. projections typically fail miserably. you have no idea what makes him get out on the road. none of us do. i mean, we can guess and hypothesize, but you seem a little too firm in your convictions here.
  5. according to my Googles, Peoria Civic Center has a 12,000 seat capacity.
  6. did Tom Petty play in a theater? and was the price for Petty's 'good' seats last year for the outdoor sheds he played? $150. and i wouldn't pay $10 to see Paul Simon. but that's just me.
  7. why even compare Randy Newman or Willie Nelson to Neil Young? It's ludicrous.
  8. U2 aren't playing in a 1500-2000 capacity theater, either. i think that either Neil's guarantee was super high and the promoters needed to jack up the prices accordingly, or he wanted to beat the scalpers. we'll see how many empty seats there are...that should determine whether the price point was set correctly or not. the show i went to in Worcester last year had the prices and no empty seats.
  9. support your local shithole...most tickets are under $20 for >1000 ppl clubs...
  10. speaking of one song being comprised of two covers... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9W6HOtPaPo&feature=related
  11. not as much interesting items to me as compared to previous years...until i saw the last bit about regional small pressings... i think i would dig the Husker split, Urge 7", the Fahey LP, the GBV tribute, the BTP/Glenn Jones record, Steve Gunn/Ilyas Ahmed split, Howe Gelb 7", Oval/Liturgy, the Superchunk/Coliseum Misfits covers 7", and maybe that Neurosis lp.
  12. if you have time, i really enjoyed eating here: http://www.local188.com/
  13. i know someone in Minneapolis, if that helps.
  14. the Bob Theil LP is excellent, kinda dreamy folk/prog/psych stuff.
  15. this is a solid label: http://www.guerssen.com/empresa.html?idioma=eng
  16. i believe it was Tom Petty who had Full Moon Fever.
  17. Beddington's comments echo the stuff I've been reading, in regards to the height of the plume (as a result of a fire) and differences between Chernobyl and Fukushima. i hope he's right.
  18. just the tonnage of fuel doesn't mean anything...reactor design, composition, reaction to the event, etc...all that i've read says that Fukujima is not nearly as catastrophic as Chernobyl was. maybe it's just propaganda, and we'll find out as the years go by.
  19. i wonder if they'll preview some material @ Solid Sound.
  20. i will say that just by looking at this small slice, it's amazing how horrible the #1 songs have become over the last ~20 years.
