  1. That is usually what I hear when I direct people to that resource. I don't know why. As I have said before, it is usually quite difficult to get older shows. That is one of the reasons we are building The Wilco Archive.
  2. You can try the db.etree link, which you can find by looking up the date at Wilcobase, and then scrolling down a bit: 2004-07-11 Wilco, Oxegen Festival, Dublin, Ireland (Wilcobase listing) 1999-06-25 Wilco, Glastonbury Festival, Glastonbury, England (Wilcobase listing)
  3. It's not about recording in Mono or Stereo, it's about the mix. By that point, mono was not the preferred mix. This was due to the emergence of FM Radio, the rise of the LP over the 45, and also the fact that more kids had stereos, instead of just one speaker transistor radios. I can't recall what the last Beatles album was that received a mono and stereo mix/release. I think it was The White Album. It's probably noted somewhere in this thread.
  4. Artist. There was a lot of sprucing up done on the Basement Tapes tracks there were officially released in 1975. At least, that is what I have always read. I didn't want to go on about Ryan Adams or some other band in this thread, but I have found that sometimes, these unreleased demos/songs are better than what said band put out. I never really messed with bootlegs, until the days of Bit Torrent came along. And have not really grabbed that much stuff, as far as that goes. Actually, the Dylan/Ryan Adams/Black Crowes tracks that I have were all given to me on cds. I had never heard The Baseme
  5. I am generally not a fan of someone taking their demos and adding parts to them, or deleting parts from them (for that matter), and then putting them out. Or something like that.
  6. That was a joke. It's from Seinfeld. But seriously, I disagree with his post.
  7. You're probably going to run into about the same rules/guidelines at most all of the legal BT sites. And I still don't think it's cool to send people to a BT site that hosts mainly illegal torrents in order to get a Wilco show.
  8. I was thinking they were written by someone with some serious knowledge of the band. I just saw this at the Jayhawks Fanpage: Also, a thread about the re-issue work. Jayhawks Official Site I think they should have put Tampa To Tulsa on the anthology. Podcasts
  9. And then, someone sells them: Bob Dylan Radio Radio Vol. 2 (4 CD Set).
  10. That's good point. I suppose I like both of those things you mentioned, depending on what band we are talking about. I don't think I have listened to any R.E.M. for a long time. I may break out Fables of The Reconstruction tomorrow morning.
  11. If we are talking loudness wars, I agree. But other than that, there are good examples. The Byrds and Grateful Dead re-masters are two examples I would put forth as pretty darn good. I don't think I've ever heard anyone say The Beatles cds (which were re-mastered in the mid 1980s, with early digital sound technology) did not need to be redone before.
  12. How is it that Peter Buck is a better guitar player than Jay Bennett or Nels Cline? I've never looked at R.E.M. as being great musicians. For them, I do believe it's about the song. And when they were good, it was about telling a story in a song. I've read interviews before where Peter calls himself a "passable guitarist". Now those may have been old interviews, I can't recall exactly. He was probably referring to their beginnings, I suppose. But still, I can't think of anything he has done that is exactly mind blowing. For me, R.E.M. was finished when they left the people, places, and th
  13. We talked about that in this thread a while back: It may start about here (not exactly sure).
  14. I have to check it out some more. I've really only played it once so far.
  15. That's about I figured. I don't think I can justify spending that amount of bread on boxsets (anymore). They should just give them away.
  16. There use to be another festival place up that way, but I think they shut down. I think they are trying to shut the current festival down also. .
  17. I've often thought that he probably does not have much of anything to do with the archival releases. I suppose he must sign off on them at some point.
  18. I was able to find the CD/DVD/Bonus Disk version last night at Best Buy for 20 bucks. Or I should say, I followed the dude around the store until he finally found a copy for me. I don't know why in the hell they have the same product in three places, but I got it, so what the hell. Everybody Gets By is a great song. I bought the new Son Volt, Wilco, and The Jayhawks all at the same time last night. I figure I will probably play The Jayhawks release the most. For me, they are tops, along with Uncle Tupelo, and Blue Mountain, of course. Also - the booklet is great, a lot of text to read, and
  19. Exactly. There are some great songs there, just like The Black Crowes and Ryan Adams, sometimes what didn't come out was better than what got released.
  20. They should put all of that stuff out, officially. If they ever do, hopefully they won't mess with the tracks like they did for the official release in 1975. It would be expensive, but the Dylan freaks would buy it.
