I rather like the sound of that album, I know that. It's my third favorite Wilco album, actually. I was hoping they would start a long run of making albums in that studio.

The latest Ryan Adams thread
Analogman replied to Duck-Billed Catechist's topic in Someone Else's Song
A lot of people don't like Gold. Or, at least I don't. Anyhow, he is not for you. No big deal. I think there are some great songs on those unreleased collections. Like Wilco, his new stuff is more laid back, when it really needs to be more rocking somehow. -
I believe one of the reasons AGIB sounds the way it does is due to the fact that was recorded at Sear Sound. And this: Mastered by Steve Rooke at Abbey Road, London

The latest Ryan Adams thread

All of this stuff has been floating around in various places for a while. It's nice that it is all together for someone to grab though. -

After looking at some of the art and other things from the auction that was to take place a while back, I'd say he at least somewhat viewed himself as Christ like.

The dude was raised a Jehovah Witness, and then converted to Islam (so I have heard). Is that true?

As far as I know, all of the songs for the new album were recorded live in front of a crowd at Levon Helm's Barn. It remains to be seen (or should I say heard) whether they did overdubs or sprucing up after the fact.

It's seems odd that he is just now getting around to making the claim.

I always thought a black DJ should have put on a New Wave Sucks! rally.

The sort of people I knew were really only into hard rock, metal, or bands from the 60s. I am talking 1980-1984. And I grew up in a pretty rural setting, were there very few non-white people. Now, I am not speaking for everyone who I went to school with, mainly just the sort of people I knew.

I recall the sort of people I knew being more upset by that, than being into it.

It's interesting how a few years make a difference. The only thing I recall about that was people and comedians making fun of him for being effeminate and that his hair caught on fire. I think the only people I knew who were into him by then were people into dance music, people who were into what was popular, and people who liked him due to the videos he made. As I have said before, to me he was a something out of a cartoon (so to speak) that I use to watch as a kid. I feel bad for his kids, who will now be in more of a spotlight than they already were.

Is that the CNN ghost footage, Latoya and her father talking about how Michael was murdered, the A&E Jackson Family Reality Show, or Joe talking about the new Jackson Three. OR something else.

That is usually what I hear when I direct people to that resource. I don't know why. As I have said before, it is usually quite difficult to get older shows. That is one of the reasons we are building The Wilco Archive.

You can try the db.etree link, which you can find by looking up the date at Wilcobase, and then scrolling down a bit: 2004-07-11 Wilco, Oxegen Festival, Dublin, Ireland (Wilcobase listing) 1999-06-25 Wilco, Glastonbury Festival, Glastonbury, England (Wilcobase listing)

It's not about recording in Mono or Stereo, it's about the mix. By that point, mono was not the preferred mix. This was due to the emergence of FM Radio, the rise of the LP over the 45, and also the fact that more kids had stereos, instead of just one speaker transistor radios. I can't recall what the last Beatles album was that received a mono and stereo mix/release. I think it was The White Album. It's probably noted somewhere in this thread.

genuine basement tapes vs. a tree with roots
Analogman replied to Vacant Horizon's topic in Someone Else's Song
Artist. There was a lot of sprucing up done on the Basement Tapes tracks there were officially released in 1975. At least, that is what I have always read. I didn't want to go on about Ryan Adams or some other band in this thread, but I have found that sometimes, these unreleased demos/songs are better than what said band put out. I never really messed with bootlegs, until the days of Bit Torrent came along. And have not really grabbed that much stuff, as far as that goes. Actually, the Dylan/Ryan Adams/Black Crowes tracks that I have were all given to me on cds. I had never heard The Baseme
