I don't recall ever cleaning a phonograph needle - except for wiping it with my fingertips, or waving the air around it - in order to remove the build-up once in a while. Of course, all of my records are mostly old and tore up to hell - so I am not one to say, I guess. The sound you hear is part of the magic, I do believe.

From what I can tell, he does not travel to far from his roots. I don't think he is interested in becoming well known (that is, at the top of the charts, People magazine, etc.) He still tours in a van, does he not? I think he did do a lot of press the last time around, or I recall reading a lot of interviews with him, anyhow. I've never seen Son Volt, but I did see a solo Jay show once. I met him backstage (but that's another story). I think he is more likely to play some UT songs than Wilco is, due to the fact that he already had it together back then, and his style has not changed that

I nocticed that also. I did see a page at at Amazon.com for the boxsets, only pages for the individual cds.

Sometimes, you have to laugh. UPS sent the cd I ordered back to Amazon - they claimed they were unable to deliver it to me. I guess I will go to Walmart and buy it.

He not only had a hand in the The Beatles empire, but many other things as well.

I first read about it in that crappy books that Bob Spitz wrote, which was mainly put together by way of the Albert Goldman's research. As you know, Philip Norman wrote The Beatles book Shout back in the 1980s. I think those guys just copy each others research these days.

I think the only piece of Beatle news that I have read in recent years that I did not know about was Neil Aspinall's relationship with Pete's mother, and the fact that they had a child together.

That is not new information. I read about that years ago. Also - the other story is that it happened to him in a street fight.

He played with Grateful Dead quite a bit - as I discovered when reading through those taper's books. I have said this before, but I got to see his guitar and amp at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
