Tedeschi Trucks Band Thread
worldrecordplayer replied to worldrecordplayer's topic in Someone Else's Song
Derek is a guitar god in my world. No doubt about it. I've lost count how many times I've seen him play, and any time I go I'm not thinking of him as a sideman but as a star of the show. There are many words that may be used to explain why anyone reacts in a particular way to art, as for Derek Shug pretty much sums it up for me. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
I am pretty certain this wasn't going on at the time, I surely would have known about it and been going to the theater. Also pretty sure the Cap was not replaying these shows on other nights. I'll check around with my buddies. We were off to college by September '75l but were still catching shows at the Cap later when home for holidays. I know for certain the August '76 show at Roosevelt Stadium was not being simulcast anywhere. Was very surprised when that turned up on YouTube. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Nope, not that I recall.

Yes, quite a bit of GD and GD related videos from the Pasaic Cap have made their way to YouTube. Saw many shows in that venue. This was a John Scher venue. He also promoted the Dead shows at Roosevelt Stadium, and the full video from the '76 show is also available. I wonder whether the release of all these videos is his doing, or if he sold/transferred these to Wolfgang's Vault. My daughter is very good friends with his daughter, I may ask her to ask her dad how these have made their way to YouTube.

Journey. Yuk. There is no set of criteria that should land that band in a hall of fame. Of course it's all personal taste, but still, there's no excuse for Journey! I loved The Sopranos, but I curse that show every time I hear that stupid song. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Tedeschi Trucks Band Thread

That's a great interview with Derek. He comes across exactly as I've always expected and seen: just a really good person making music for all the right reasons. Same with Susan. Uncool2pillow-if you like guitar playing, get yourself some Derek to listen to. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
Sounds like they themselves never settled on the identity of the festival. I have to think you have to make a special effort to run a Mettalica festival and lose millions. Or a really bad ill-defined concept. For the first SS I stayed at a BnB with best friends of the people from the Vt. promoter (Higher Ground?). They reported the promoter and band were taking a bath that year. Fast forward and we all know they stuck with it and presumably it's now financially successful. That first SS was sweet though, small and intimate.

Let's do that, looking forward.

Left center orch, Row G, seats 1 and 3 on the center aisle. An upgrade to what I had. I had to refresh many times for any tix to show, even though I was in the site within 30 seconds of Wilco's tweet.
-
Wilco just tweeted good seats released for Beacon Theater shows. I just picked up a great pair for Saturday.

Today's SS email notes 185 days until SS and says lineup to be announced in the New Year. I guess that's sort of stating the obvious at this point, but still something to take note

In the R.E.M. topic, there was a reference to a fan bulletin board and who was on it back in the day. Which has me asking here if anyone was on the WELL? I was there for many years, back before the WWW when you had to know DOS commands. I was "bigwheel."
-
I watched the End of the Year As We Know It clip, well done. I have such a hard time looking at Stipe with that beard. My wife hasn't seen him in a long time and couldn't believe it. Not in a good way. Damn, I was not aware. I was spending lots of time on the WELL.

Hope you're catching one or more

I don't recall if there's a separate JRAD topic, but they released a soundboard of the Boston House of Blues show for download and stream. I can assure you it was a barn burner (but aren't they all). Worth downloading. https://archive.org/details/jrad2016-12-02.cmc621.cmc641vxt.sbd.matrix.flac24

There are a couple of musical pieces in my life that always put me in a good mood no matter how bad I may be feeling at the time. This is #1 for me. Never fails.

Since that original post, I will add the two Tedeschi Trucks Band shows and the JRAD show. All 3 were excellent. -

I miss The Channel. So many incredible nights spent inside that place. I go by there now, it's an open air parking lot, get tears in my eyes! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -

Ha! I thought I was losing my mind! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
Agree. Real Estate and Richard Thompson were the only bands other than Wilco and Tweedy for me.

Damn, I'm going to be on a plane. Getting tix has never been an issue in the past, but I want the early birds.
