  1. Pretty much an accurate write up of the first album. http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/22733-the-grateful-dead-50th-anniversary-deluxe-edition/
  2. Someone please get Bob a good taper ticket! We'll all reap the benefit
  3. I have an extra pair Row C in the balcony. Send me a PM if interested
  4. That may be the smallest drum kit I've seen. As far as I could see, he had just a bass drum and snare, along with cymbals. Is that right?
  5. They've been doing this combo tour for years. The Middle East in Cambridge is a regular stop on this tour. They always come here in the dead of winter, always a freezing cold January night. Unfortunately for me, this year the show's on a Saturday night and my wife has no interest so I will take a pass. I hate to miss them. I like hearing/seeing Camper, but I love Cracker. Pretty much every song. Plus, they have Johnny! Interesting guy that Lowery. Math genius by day, rock n roll guitar player by night.
  6. Wow. I keep hearing about him and have friends who are really into him, but I've never had a chance to listen or see him. Those were quite the performances. He's now on my radar.
  7. A 4 part interview with Hood and Cooley posted on YouTube. Craig Finn asks the questions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAsnpNyUd1I&index=2&list=TLGGITVCD3RWSgExMTAxMjAxNw
  8. So I was sure I wasn't going to do the Dave's Picks subscription this year. But today they just announced the second release, Felt Forum 12/7/71, to go along with the already announced Boston 4/2/73 show. So I'm in for the series.
  9. I had no idea they previously played Hoodoo. Nor was I aware they played in a band with Gordon. Thx for the info!
  10. Definitely looking forward to Ryan Adams and Beck. Hope to have something new from Courtney. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. I haven't heard it yet, but JRAD covered Hoodoo Voodoo last night at the Cap. Full audio here: http://www.jambase.com/article/joe-russos-almost-dead-brings-guests-debut-capitol-theatre Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. Been wondering when we were going to see that post from you remphish!
  13. Kurt Vile and the Violators Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. Derek is a guitar god in my world. No doubt about it. I've lost count how many times I've seen him play, and any time I go I'm not thinking of him as a sideman but as a star of the show. There are many words that may be used to explain why anyone reacts in a particular way to art, as for Derek Shug pretty much sums it up for me. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. I am pretty certain this wasn't going on at the time, I surely would have known about it and been going to the theater. Also pretty sure the Cap was not replaying these shows on other nights. I'll check around with my buddies. We were off to college by September '75l but were still catching shows at the Cap later when home for holidays. I know for certain the August '76 show at Roosevelt Stadium was not being simulcast anywhere. Was very surprised when that turned up on YouTube. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. Yes, quite a bit of GD and GD related videos from the Pasaic Cap have made their way to YouTube. Saw many shows in that venue. This was a John Scher venue. He also promoted the Dead shows at Roosevelt Stadium, and the full video from the '76 show is also available. I wonder whether the release of all these videos is his doing, or if he sold/transferred these to Wolfgang's Vault. My daughter is very good friends with his daughter, I may ask her to ask her dad how these have made their way to YouTube.
  17. Journey. Yuk. There is no set of criteria that should land that band in a hall of fame. Of course it's all personal taste, but still, there's no excuse for Journey! I loved The Sopranos, but I curse that show every time I hear that stupid song. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. That's a great interview with Derek. He comes across exactly as I've always expected and seen: just a really good person making music for all the right reasons. Same with Susan. Uncool2pillow-if you like guitar playing, get yourself some Derek to listen to. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. Sounds like they themselves never settled on the identity of the festival. I have to think you have to make a special effort to run a Mettalica festival and lose millions. Or a really bad ill-defined concept. For the first SS I stayed at a BnB with best friends of the people from the Vt. promoter (Higher Ground?). They reported the promoter and band were taking a bath that year. Fast forward and we all know they stuck with it and presumably it's now financially successful. That first SS was sweet though, small and intimate.
  20. Left center orch, Row G, seats 1 and 3 on the center aisle. An upgrade to what I had. I had to refresh many times for any tix to show, even though I was in the site within 30 seconds of Wilco's tweet.
  21. Wilco just tweeted good seats released for Beacon Theater shows. I just picked up a great pair for Saturday.
