Yes, Friday night particularly of SS2 I was under a rain poncho or umbrella, as were most, so the sound was not ideal! You can hear the rain pelting on the umbrella over the mike stand on the audience recording.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned in this recent convo, the sound system is spectacular. Crystal clear, perfect volume. I've been to all the SS's and each time I'm amazed at how good they get the sound at an open air field. So wherever you are, no worries about the sound. I love the visuals of being up close for a show, but the reality is there's always a tradeoff as the sound is usually better a little farther back.

My memory is nothing starts before 5, but that's a very foggy memory

My view on all this, as posted in all the shit storm on FB yesterday, in response to some similar comments here that little Wilco and a single concert doesn't matter so why cancel: "Good for Wilco! Sucks for the Wilco fans who had tickets, but a bunch of little political protest statements start adding up. The state of Connecticut passed a law banning government employees from going to Indiana. Who bears the brunt of that? Hotels, restaurants, cabbies, etc. But then they start speaking out and some momentum for change gets built, a little at a time. Whether it's "musical" or "political", the

Definite shit show on the Relix posting, less so on the JamBase posting (so far at least)

Good for Wilco! Sucks for the Wilco fans who don't support this neanderthal law.

Daily lineup announced. Don't see any big surprises. Snowing in Boston (again), Solid Sound can't get here soon enough! http://solidsoundfestival.com/daily-lineup-announced-single-day-tickets-on-sale/

Nothing beats "An Evening With Wilco" show. When they do those, don't they usually announce it as such? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
I scored a ticket for her next show at The Sinclair, very psyched.

This topic needs a bump. Got introduced to Courtney Barnett a few weeks ago (by my 25 year old son-nice to have the wheel spin 'round), and I've become pretty obsessed with her since. Been listening to the Double EP and the iTunes sessions, and lots of live footage on YouTube. She seems to be breaking out all over right now with the release of her first label release, Sometimes I Sit and Think and Sometimes I Just Sit. Great reviews for the album, and I concur. (I got the orange vinyl). Love her songs, very witty and great tunes. My friends all know I'm a sucker for a girl playing a Tele

Right sorry about that, duh, there is no "first Thursday." (I always went second weekend, so I forget there is no Thursday the first weekend).

JazzFest cubes are out, Wilco headlines the Gentilly Stage on the first Thursday.

Today is the 41st anniversary of the debut of the Wall of Sound. A moment of silence. Listened to the Playing >UJB>Dew>UJB >Playing palindrome on Sirius on the way home tonight. I was fortunate to have seen/heard the Wall of Sound once. A memorable occasion.

Bummed they're skipping MA, and all of New England really. And no fall tour. Looks like a couch tour Phish year for me.

I got it on the pre-order the second it went up. Glad I didn't hesitate. -
I have to confess, I didn't notice anything unusual about that line, "pitch a tent" is a common camping phrase to me. I had to go to urbandictionary.com to see what you're talking about

The First Great Song You Heard in Concert
worldrecordplayer replied to roadhse ma's topic in Someone Else's Song
My first (or second) show, the Chambers Brothers, 1970 or '71, Time Has Come Today. That was a big song at summer camp in the late '60's, seeing them do it in the round at Westbury Music Fair on the Love Peace and Happiness tour was memorable, my first "big" song heard live. -

I think Charlotte Sometimes is a great song. Maybe my favorite Cure song, I had the 12 " single of it (still do) used to listen to it endlessly. -
Been listening to and watching a lot of Courtney Barnett recently, having been recently turned on to her. Really looking forward to the new album and seeing her soon.

75, and still going strong. I'm in MA and not at the Cap tonight, but will celebrate by watching some of this show with Trey and Modeski http://youtu.be/ufhm-A-VYWI Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I've always had Deadicated, haven't listened to it in a many years, will give it a spin, thanks for the reminder. Those Hunter interviews in RS were excellent.
