Dusted off my 2-24-74 Winterland discs today. That Dark Star>Dew is something to behold.

I've said it at various times in several outlets, but I'll just say it here as a wrap. I am totally fine with the lineup. First of all, WIlco x2 and Tweedy is all I need. But the lineup has enough interesting and divergent choices to keep me interested, and I don't know half the artists announced. (I was very impressed how quickly folks were able to identify all those artists I've never heard of). I'm not feeling any need for a "bigger" name draw. In fact, just the opposite. This is a Wilco family festival. From the artists I'm familiar with (RT, Real Estate, King Sunny, NRBQ, and the c

I don't know where RT will be placed, but I'm also fully expecting Tweedy/Jeff and Friends to close the festival as at the first SS. I'm thinking King Sunny Ade will "open" for Wilco on Joe's Field on Saturday. They will have the field up and dancing. Just my gut.

White Denim opened for them on a California swing a few years ago, and then they played the last SS.

Anyone who has not seen Richard Thompson perform is in for a treat. Don't miss him. A guitar and songwriting whiz. Watching him perform '52 Vincent Black Lightning will drop your jaw.

Excellent comedy lineup also, which will please my wife as she always spends Saturday in the comedy show. Jessica Williams!

They had me at Wilco x2 and Tweedy, so the rest is gravy. But I do find the lineup intriguing and not at all a middle age white guy festival as was written. Charles Lloyd and King Sunny Ade, never saw either of them coming and am psyched to have some great jazz, and King Sunny speaks for himself. I'm also a huge Richard Thompson fan, that wasn't a surprise but am really happy nonetheless. Lots of music I'm not familiar with, Jessica Pratt, Mac Demarco, William Tyler. Quiet morning in the house with my wife out and I don't have to work for the first day in 3 weeks, spinning the Dark Star vinyl of Olympia Theater 5/14/72. Sounds great. They take this version deep!
