Ouch, that hurts Add me to that list. I didn't think they'd sell out one night in a stadium, let alone 3. Shows you why Peter Shapiro is Peter Shapiro and I'm not!

Here's some non-Dead and non-wilco related music I listen to, all currently made music, not necessarily what the "kids" are listening to: Soulive, Lettuce, Galactic, Tedeschi Trucks, War on Drugs, Real Estate, Cracker, DBT, Jason Isbell, Lucinda, Ryan Adams, JRAD. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Not only would I not get rid of my cd's, but last year I spent what was for me a good amount of $$ on a new cd player, and a new turntable. I still regularly buy cd's and vinyl, even though I have no place to put them. I use digital files for my iPod in the car and when commuting on the train, but at home I like having physical media. I've spent many a night comparing the same music on different media, and have convinced myself that it sounds better this way. Going to a high end audio store and listening to different cd players was jawdropping, I had no idea the difference in sound as you s

Finally watched Boyhood today. Hate It Here on the car radio while Ethan Hawke's character dissects this great "country" song. And Summer Noon as the credits roll. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

So, why is Donna not included in this I wonder? I'm not a Donna hater, wouldn't like it if they didn't ask her and she wants to be part of it.

I was just listening to one that I have, 2-12-06, in the middle of one of the worst blizzards to hit NYC. I don't think Trey was announced, I think he just walked over from his apartment. Not sure about that, that's my memory. I have a very good copy of this, you should really have it, so if you want it (you and anyone else) send me a PM and I'll put it in my Dropbox and send a link.

I think Trey is a great pick. Surprised at all the negativity about the Trey choice (not here). He sounded great when he played the Beacon with Phil. Excellent choice in my book.

Just to clarify, since I was one of the first to express discontent with MMJ at SS and I don't want to be lumped into the MMJ haters, I really like the band and respect that lots of folks whose musical tastes I share think they're a phenomenal live band (the 1x I saw them I thought they were good, but not to that level). I just don't see them fitting in at SS, probably for the reason that they're too much of a headliner in their own right and for me Wilco should be the only "headliner" at SS. So there you have it, not a MMJ hater, would see them whenever I could, just not at SS.

Yup, "and mark the original members’ last-ever performance together." So much for Lockn'.

The written announcement doesn't say that: http://wxrt.cbslocal.com/2015/01/16/fare-thee-well-the-grateful-dead-to-celebrate-50th-anniversary-at-soldier-field/

DId he say these are going to be the *only* shows?

Getting ready for tonight

Yes, definitely!

One rumor that seems to make sense to me is that there will be a performance (or 2) at Lockn'. That's where I will likely catch them. People can speculate all day on who will be playing guitar and keys, but seems to be all speculation or "wish lists" at this point, with the exception that there seems to be a lot of momentum for Trey to be playing with them at Chicago shows. Maybe on a double bill with Phish? I agree, I don't see how the GD reunion show fills Soldier Field by itself.

I posted this in another topic, but it should be here as well. A nice piece in the New Yorker. http://www.newyorker.com/culture/culture-desk/pops-staples-belated-finale

I've seen MMJ once, would love to see them again. But NOT at SS, unless it's a 5:00 slot on Joe's Field before Wilco. Even still, I fear having MMJ on the bill would pose a substantial risk of turning this into a bigger deal and more crowded festival than any of the Wilco fans who attend would want. Perhaps I'm overreacting, but my gut tells me they're too "big" an act for what we love about SS. And any suggestion they would take one of the 2 headlining night slots would be a definite no-no.

New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival 2015
worldrecordplayer replied to worldrecordplayer's topic in Someone Else's Song
It's never been about the big headliners on the Acura stage for me. Over the years I've often found myself at Gentilly or the Blues Tent or somewhere else for the day's closing sets. But the Acura headliners this year are weak for my tastes (I'll catch Widespread at Lockn'), and looking past that first layer of headliners there's just not that much depth. I haven't looked at the late nights yet, that's always a big part of our trip. I know if I went it would be hard to not have fun at JazzFest, it's always been an incredible time. It is tempting to go first weekend, looks like WIlco will
