Which one is your band? -
Nothing but rumors but this was in today's Boston Globe: U2 is pulling out all the stops to hype its new CD, "No Line on the Horizon," which hits stores Tuesday. Bono and the boys played a surprise gig Friday on top of the BBC building in London, and Monday the lads take up residence on "The Late Show with David Letterman," where they'll be Dave's musical guest all week. (It's the first time a band has been given five nights on Letterman's show.) That's not all. According to the Hartford's Courant Eric Danton, the guerilla marketing campaign continues Friday, when Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayto

Great article about Bobby Orr in the current Sports Illustrated. -
I remember a game at Fenway in late 1988 where the Sox were playing the A's. The fans in right field (where I was sitting) were getting on Canseco with the steroid chant. He walked over to the stands, flexed his muscles, laughed, and then took his position playing right field.

I was going to say, Dino Jr in a small club? Bring the ear plugs. I've only seent hem twice but they were both really really loud. I still think a Bob Mould solo band (post Husker Du, pre Sugar) show was the loudest show I have ever been to.

Really liked the show in Boston last night. They played most of Furr, some older stuff, a Tom Paxton cover. They seemed to be enjoying themselves. As someone said earlier, a pretty good night of entertainment for $12. I actually liked Alela Diane as an opener. I missed her first few songs but liked what I saw. Lots of beards and PBR in the crowd. And not to sound like Tweedy but there was lots of talking while BT were playing. I don't expect people to be rapturously quiet in a club but if you paid money to go see a band why would you spend the whole time talking?

The band Buffalo Tom wrote a song "Ink Falling (Father Outside)" which was adapted from a poem by Nick Flynn. It's on a benefit CD called "Give Us Your Poor".

Griffey back to Seattle Ken Griffey Jr. is returning to Seattle. The future Hall of Famer informed the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday that he's returning to the city where he carved out a Hall of Fame career as a perennial All-Star in the 1990s. Two baseball sources said that Griffey made his decision after two days of debating between Atlanta, which is close to his home in Orlando, Fla., and Seattle, where he's been a fan favorite since breaking in with the Mariners as a 19-year-old phenom in 1989. The contract is for one year and is believed to be worth $2 million in base salary, plus i

Celtics president Danny Ainge confirmed that guard Sam Cassell has been dealt to the Sacramento Kings for a protected second-round pick. The move allows the Celtics to have one available spot now on their 15-man roster, which could be helpful in a trade or in signing a free agent. The trade deadline is Thursday. According to a source, the Kings are expected to waive Cassell and a team needing a veteran point guard may claim him off waivers. Cassell, 39, has yet to play this season. He averaged 7.6 points and 2.1 assists for Boston last season after signing as a free agent March 4 foll

'Oil Can' Boyd looking for comeback at age 49 by FOXSports.com It's been 18 years since Dennis "Oil Can" Boyd last pitched in the Major Leagues, but he figures he's still got some gas left in that tank. "Oil Can" Boyd went 78-77 with a 4.04 ERA in his 10-year career. The 49-year-old wants an MLB team to give him a look this spring, according to a report in the Boston Globe. Says Boyd, "I have nothing to lose, and all a major league team has to lose is 15 minutes. Give me 15 minutes and I'll show I can still pitch. That's all I want." And he says he's still got some pretty good stuff,
