"What? Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!"

I recommend that everyone know a lot about the Feelies. Their cover of I Wanna Sleep in Your Arms is great. It's a lot like the Modern Lovers's version only about 33% faster. And just to clarify, the Feelies/Yo La Tengo show on New Year's Eve is actually in Montclair, New Jersey.

Y'know, I'd be fine if I never heard Sweet Caroline again. It served its purpose but it's time to hang it up.

I expect it mostly had to do with Lester pitching. Before tonight's game he was 3-0 with a 0.90 ERA against the Rays this season, he was 11-1 at Fenway, and he had a streak of 24 2/3 consecutive postseason innings without allowing an earned run, including 16 this year.

I know this properly belongs in After the Show but I know this thread was already here. The Feelies show was excellent. I was going to write something but my friend Mark who I went with reviewed it for the Boston Globe. Feelies play like they never were away By Mark Shanahan, Globe Staff | October 13, 2008 It's unreasonable to expect a band that gets back together after a prolonged absence to sound like its old self. Or is it? The Feelies, performing in Boston for the first time in more than 15 years Saturday, proved it's at least possible. Playing to a shamefully sparse crowd at

Very excited to see them tomorrow night. (But the cover of Paint It Black tacked on the end of this has always bugged me ...)

Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads bassist)

But keep in mind that Busta Jones plays bass on the later period stuff on that album. I think on many songs he and Tina are both playing but she also plays some keyboards. -
Man, John Lackey sure is a whiner.

Thanks for posting that. I'm going to see them on Saturday.

I am still not sure why I find that skit so funny but I do. I showed it to three people in my office (who are normally pretty funny) and none of them liked it.

Downloaded it this weekend (from emusic) and I dig it.

You mean that thing the Wonder Twins do?

I like this: "the philanthropic base-running of Vladimir Guerrero." It was a nice play by Youklis and some bad base-running by Vlad.

I saw Graham play a couple of weeks ago. He played solo and then Mike Gent (from the Figgs and who has played on some of Parker's albums) came out and they played a bunch of stuff together. It was really good.

He's an LA guy (although I don't think he's from there originally). All of his kids are musicians, too. His daughter Petra was in the Decemberists and also recorded an a capella version of the Who Sells Out. One of his other daughters is married to Jack Black.

The other day I heard Charlie Haden and Jack Black on Fresh Air talking about this album. Jack Black said that as a family member he was waiting for Charlie Haden to ask him to sing on the album. Haden had recorded Old Joe Clark as an instrumental but after talking with Jack Black they put the words to it. They played a clip and it actually sounded OK.

Great album. "Not as good as Atomizer, so don't get your hopes up, cheese."

Pat Riley trademarked the phrase when he was with the Lakers (although the Lakers never three-peated under his watch).

That one is certainly up there.

Just started this last night.

That's a great movie - and a great book. Oddly enough, when I first heard that he died Nobody's Fool and Empire Falls were the first two movies I thought of.
