  1. And two more shows: Northampton MA October 10 Boston October 11 (tickets are on sale)
  2. Kimcatch: I just finished this book (Last Days of Old Beijing) and really liked it. It has a lot of pretty interesting information about the history of Beijing, including what is going on there now with the destruction of much of the older neighborhoods.
  3. I just finished the one on the Pixies and thought it was pretty good. I also liked Bill Janovitz's book on Exile on Main Street. However, I really didn't like the one on REM's Murmur.
  4. It took me about halfway through the thread to realize that people were not talking about Belinda Carlisle.
  5. I really like those Star demos. As for me, I'm listening to this for the first time in years. Maybe it's the references in the lyrics, but it seems sort of dated.
  6. Pretty good review in today's Boston Globe. The paper edition has a nice picture too. A Wilco crescendo at Tanglewood By Joan Anderman, Globe Staff | August 14, 2008 LENOX - If it had been any other band, the opening stretch of Wilco's much-anticipated show at Tanglewood on Tuesday would have seemed insanely temperate. Who greets a pumped, rabid crowd with a laid-back soft-rocker ("Either Way"), a gentle pop tune ("Hummingbird"), and a winsome country-folk song ("Remember the Mountain Bed")? Wilco does - precisely because the band has built a relationship of uncommon trust with its au
  7. I think it is still going to be Charlie Zink (see top of page).
  8. BOSTON (AP) -- The Boston Red Sox have acquired pitcher Paul Byrd in a trade with Cleveland. The Red Sox will send either a player to be named or cash to the Indians. The 37-year-old Byrd is 7-10 with a 4.53 ERA this season. But the right-hander has won all four of his starts since the All-Star break.
  9. From today's NY Post MANNY'S REVENGE: EYES BX. By GEORGE A. KING III Posted: 3:54 am August 9, 2008 ANAHEIM, Calif. - Having successfully orchestrated his divorce from Boston and his landing in with the Dodgers, Manny Ramirez would like to make life miserable for the Red Sox during the next few seasons. According to people who have spoken to the eccentric outfielder since he was dealt to L.A. on July 31, Ramirez wants to sign a free-agent deal with the Yankees New York Yankees this offseason and get 19 chances a year to punish Boston. "He wants to play for the Yankees so he can get a
  10. Nice work and an interesting list. Some things that jumped out at or surprised me: 1. Both the Beatles' Let it Be and Let it Be Naked made the list 2. Zeppelin III being the only Zeppelin 3. Andrew Bird & the Mysterious Production of Eggs being ranked so high. I don't have it so I think I probably should go get it. 4. I have 84 of the 100
  11. I'm assuming it will include stuff from My Life in the Bush of Ghosts which I don't think he ever really plays live.
  12. Keep in mind that Eno is not part of the tour ...
  13. ESPN has been reading this board for story ideas: The Most Overrated Position in Sports
  14. And Dinosaur Jr., at least on most of the tour.

  16. Someone on the Man Without Ties message board posted that he got this message from Amazon: Greetings from Amazon.com Thank you for asking about the availability of Paul Westerberg album, "49:00". 17. A little late to the party on this, but I finally saw Dig last night and loved it. It didn't make me like (or dislike) either of their music any more than I already do but I thought it was pretty fascinating.
  18. I'm sure everyone is tired of talking about Manny, but according to the Boston Globe, he lobbied to stay after he learned he had been traded. "Of all the Manny moments in Boston, the last ranks as one of the most confounding. Within an hour after Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein informed Manny Ram
