Wilco — 8/15/15, Sandpoint, ID (Memorial Field) [The Festival at Sandpoint]
nalafej replied to bböp's topic in After The Show
I think (hope) that this will go down as the most unfortunate setup for a Wilco show I see. I had a feeling it would look something like it did given ticket buying process and then walking in the gates. Fortunately, I waited until show time to arrive and had an awesome day in the surrounding area + Coeur D'Alene which true to Jeff's words, were beautiful. The band walked into this situation. I would guess there 150 Wilco fans in attendance. The other 2000 people were there to fest it up. Vetiver went over well tonight. Wilco took the stage and alienated most with Star Wars and then after -

Better than Red Eyed & Blue into I Got You (At the End of the Century)? I agree it is great, but not ready to make that leap...

Lollapalooza. Sir Paul. AL Shakes. Father John Misty. Gary Clark Jr.

Thanks. I was very happy with the thought behind the answer too. It would have been fun (in a conversational setting as opposed to an auditorium with cameras) to dive deeper. I love listening to early versions of Ghost songs and I think it enhanced my appreciation for the album cuts. I agree that my being there wouldn't have helped the creative process! I totally buy into audiences not being capable of that. I don't blame them for doing what they do.

I can't figure out why they didn't do it at Solid Sound too. It just makes much better sense from a pleasing the fans standpoint.

Oops. Sorry about that. Thanks for catching it.

Wilco — 7/14/15, Morrison, CO (Red Rocks Amphitheatre)

Finally time to chime in. 60th Wilco show. 1st Red Ricks experience. I thought it was a fantastic night! Steve gunn was a great opener. The venue is a gem and must do for all music fans. Wilco played great. I agree with the comments that they didn't really go beyond a typical performance but they are great even on nights where they don't over achieve. I don't understand how people can have issues with a setlist containing obscure tracks like Panthers, Camera, New Madrid and Hesitating Beauty and the best of Wilco. That is the entire point of a 20th anniversary tour supporting the boxe -
Wilco' set will be streaming on YouTube (along with other artists)!

I would say no chance. Would be cool if they did stuff like that though.

Ghost encore- very nice -
Any reports from last night? Eddie Vedder headlined. Saw a tweeted pic of John singing background along with many of the other musicians. Curious what the night was like.
