Jeff Tweedy--11/20/15, Chicago, IL (Park West)
nalafej replied to chisoxjtrain's topic in After The Show
I thought it was a good show and the crowd seemed like a typical Jeff Tweedy solo show crowd to me. Jeff's guitar playing was impressive to my eyes. Clearly struggled with lyrics as already mentioned which is a bit of a bummer. The song selection was a good mix of hits + deep cuts like Ruling Class and Pecan Pie. I was hoping he'd bust out This Ain't No Lounge Axe or some Star Wars but I enjoyed the setlist much more than I do the annual Vic shows. I like seeing how Jeff organizes and manages that setlist. While I was not one of the numerous talkers during the openers set, I can't really bla -
Tonight is the first Jeff Tweedy solo show since the release of Star Wars. I don't think we ever found out what he did at the charity thing a few weeks ago. Jeff also has a performance on Monday night. What songs from Star Wars will he play? I'll guess Taste the Ceiling and Magnetized. King of You would be cool solo too.

I'm not an expert, but if Blurred Lines was a rip off this seems like the same deal. -

Not at all. I like the current band and don't wish it to change. It seems unlikely to me that the same 6 guys will be the only six guys for more than a few years.
-
What are the odds that the band is still the same 6 musicians by the time they do this tour?

Thanks for sharing. Good watch. I can't figure out why she/her management booked this. Strange audience.

How was that show? Did you see the opener, Torres ? I just bought tickets today to see her in a few months. Hoping it is a good one.

Another idea: Wilco plays headlining shows with a great opening act like William Tyler in mid size theaters and clubs saving me from sitting through a washed up Neil Young or an overrated MMJ and saving me $$.
-
John is playing in Split Single at SPACE on 11/7.

Yes. Pittsburgh is 2016 stop #1. 5 hr drive. Also hasn't been a show there since 2010.
-
I was there too. It was such a fun show.
