  1. I went ahead an pre-ordered the limited orange vinyl. Just realized I never bought Star Wars (although I did buy one of the recommended albums that Wilco suggested in place of paying for it...Girl Pool). The weekly contests look fun. Did I miss the tote bag option?? August 30th winner (Signed guitar from the Loft): August 31st winner (22" custom Schmilco wall clock. These are made exactly like the originals and fabricated only with parts made in the USA. Featuring all steel and glass construction, this is a real neon clock that will last a lifetime.): September 1st winner (Awesome myster

  3. Twin Peaks are opening the Chicago show. They are about at the same level of popularity as Pearl Jam, right?
  4. You were holding out on us?? I wonder why it says Warner in parenthesis after the track name?
  5. Their show at Turner Hall in Milwaukee last night was pretty great. They are good performers.
  6. The website has a recent face lift too which points to moving towards the next project.
  7. I did not enjoy the Brotherly Love tour! Hope they do something different if the reunion happens. Maybe it's ok if they go away though? The legacy is in a good spot.
  8. Anybody seen him perform? I'm going tomorrow. Interested to see how the excellent album translates to live.
  9. Night of - amazing first episode. Still thinking about it.
  10. How did you choose the photo?
  11. Aerosmith actually had a hit song in 1998. So it has been 18 years, but...the Stones haven't had one since 1981, right? I also think it is impressive that Aerosmith (and ZZ Top) are still at with the original 5 members. Not many bands can make that work.
  12. Used to be a big fan. So many great songs. I don't know if I would call the upcoming situation a breakup so much as a retirement. Dudes are old. Tyler is crazy for putting out a solo album and touring behind it this year.
  13. Nels and Wilco were teasing this yesterday on twitter. Looks like an August 5th release for "Lovers" on Blue Note. Great album cover. 18 tracks arranged and conducted by Michael Lionheart. The song "Beautiful Love" is available now. Jazzy. http://www.nelscline.com/lovers/
  14. Can somebody correct my spelling of Stirratt in the title? Weirdest one that I'm aware of is on Blind Melon's 1995 album, Soup. Track one (Galaxie) can be rewound to negative 3 minutes and there is an original backing tracking with vocals that are their song "New Life" played in reverse.
  15. http://www.mascontext.com/issues/28-hidden-winter-15/requiem-for-the-hidden-track/ Essay by John Stirratt I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t get a grasp on Monty Python’s Matching Tie and Handkerchief Side 2, a hand-me-down. I loved the skit “Minister for Overseas Development” in which Terry Jones and Michael Palin are old ladies talking to an adult professional John Cleese like he’s a baby. When I put the needle down on vinyl, it would sometimes be there, but other times there was an entirely different performance. I was probably too young to understand the mechanics behind the idea of
  16. Very cool! Glad it was such a great experience.
  17. Nice! I visited the field even though there was no game/action when I was in Birmingham to see the great show Wilco put on a Sloss Furnace a few years back. The field looked really great.
  18. Yes, I need to read about that now. Just finished the book and saw his note about there being that event.
  19. I'm reading Thirteen Ways of Looking by Colum McCann. It is a short story collection. The first few have been great.
  20. Where to Invade Next - Michael Moore. Enjoyed watching it. Not quite as thought provoking as some of his other films, but a good watch.
  21. This west coast swing is impressive and fan friendly. They could have easily done 1 big show in these cities (like they are doing in Chicago and Minny), but instead they are sticking around for weeks to give the fans (relatively) small and intimate shows. You can't really even compare the Riviera residencies of '08 and '14 to this 5 night Filmore run because The Filmore is a landmark theater kept in pristine shape whereas the Riviera is a dump that isn't maintained. The Riv also seats 2500 vs the Filmore's 1150 so the Filmore is really way > The Riviera run
