  1. More warped IKEA instruction sheets here:- http://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/gallery/2014/sep/22/flatpack-fiends-ikea-kits-for-famous-monsters-in-pictures

  3. Apparently Johnny Depp played on stage during the encore of his London show. Tuesday he was also on Jools Holland, looking like Cousin It with scraggly hair deliberately hiding his face.

Indeed.
  5. That's great - thanks ‘If you’ve got a 12-inch album with a picture of somebody’s head on it, it’s the same size as your head. You can sit it up and talk to it. Not that I’ve ever done that’ - Oh come on, are you really, really sure about that? I'm picturing something along the lines of Tom Hanks and that basketball in that film. :-)

  8. She came into my mind.Emmylou's Red Dirt Girll. (Wrecking Ball was a couple of years shy). I liked Aimee Mann's Charmer too. I wonder if there's something in the fact that they are all female artists?
  9. "The Wilco singer says Daniel Johnston epitomizes his mostly instinctual creative process." I really connected with the comments on melody being the driver - probably the single reason I am the fan that I am. The mumbled vocals explanation means that as well as being 'the American Radiohead', Wilco missed out on a chance of being 'the American Sigur Ros' :-) Interesting tidbit - I'll Sing It dates back to the Being There era. http://www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2014/09/jeff-tweedys-subconscious-songwriting/380290/?single_page=true
  10. That international arbiter of taste The Daily Nebraskan weighs in. It is a very positive review. http://www.dailynebraskan.com/arts_and_entertainment/wilco-front-man-son-team-up-to-create-contrasting-gutsy/article_b4a31e4c-3e0f-11e4-95e4-0017a43b2370.html
  11. Comments after one listen can be worthless, but I like the sequencing, and even though there are a variety of styles, there seems to be an underlying consistency in 'feel'. I thought it might be what I consider the most consistent JT album, and I think it indeed is - I don't think I would skip anything, whereas every other album has always had something that immediately grates a bit and I feel I can do without. But asm me in a month . . . :-)
  12. http://consequenceofsound.net/2014/09/album-review-tweedy-sukierae/ The same sites album review.
  13. Best thing about that is the use of the word 'lunchables'.
  14. Not much happening at work today, so I'm going in . . .
  15. Walked past the Tardis on the Thames Embankment on the way to work this morning. Too early for any of the actors for the photo shoot though. Not sure about the new Doc from an actor/personality point of view yet, but I welcome a change of direction to a bit more thought and mystery rather than crash-bang-wallop and snogging the assistants - though Matt Smith was fantastic.

  17. 8 of 8 last night here. Gripping, thought provoking stuff.
  18. Wilco working on demos later this week according to a report in German Musik Express, also a further project with Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig. http://www.musikexpress.de/news/meldungen/article623994/wilco-arbeiten-an-neuen-songs.html Translated from the German by Google:-
  19. Also, interested in the note about the album opening with a short punk song. Personally I've never been convinced by JT as a punk (e.g. Student Load Stereo, Kicking Television), perhaps because even the punk music I like has strong tunes/melody and they seem lacking to me in what is usually a strong point for JT. But I do like the idea of that being on the same album as something like Wait For Love.
  20. The precedent seems to be (unless Mods want to make a ruling) that the full text (with Author's name) is included as well as a prominent link to the original. Usually better to read there, but with some sources/links less permanent than others the text is here at Wilco Central Repository for posterity - or until the next board crash :-) Either way the source probably gets more publicity - I'd never heard of Grantland but have had a good look round since.
  21. Thanks for that. For those who prefer to read the original it is here:- http://grantland.com/features/jeff-tweedy-wilco-sukierae-spencer-tweedy/ It is also worth saying that the 'random' numbers in the text above actually reveal little pop-up nuggets of info when clicked in the original. A few of them are interesting to read.
