  1. Thanks for a great recap, Paul! I always enjoy hearing your perspective on the shows I can't make. Unfortunately, I'm also unable to attend the Canadian run of shows, but hope our friends up there can give us some info. See you at the Vic!
  2. I managed to space out on getting a ticket for the Saturday Vic show. I’d prefer Gold Circle, but I’d take GA if that’s what you have. Thanks
  3. Thank you Paul for, once again, perfectly describing not just the structure of the show, but the mood and feeling of this and all three nights. This was as good as a residency gets IMHO. The shows had a certain something that almost defies description. You could feel the love, gratitude, and generosity from both the band/crew and the fans. It was one of those "my face hurts from smiling" kind of nights. It was positively joyous. I'm so glad I got to be there for these shows, and am particularly happy I got to help celebrate B's birthday. The highlights for me musically were the A.M. tunes, We'
  4. He played acoustic bass on some songs, just not acoustic upright bass. I have his setlist from the Independent in SF and has notations of which instrument he plays on each song. Photographic evidence... http://apeconcerts.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/wilco_inde081615_tt_web003.jpg
  5. John is joining Ray LaMontagne on tour this Fall https://twitter.com/Oneanda3/status/892513807876186112
  6. I'll be there! Look forward to seeing those I know and meeting those I don't
  7. Thanks for a great recap! You really nailed the vibe of the show, and I agree with your sentiments. It's not what they played but how they played it. I think the torrential downpour during Danny Brown's set worked it our favor. It washed away all the curious onlookers leaving only the obsessed/clinically insane fans who were willing to risk personal safety to be there. It really made for a high energy crowd and set. I'm really glad I got to be a part of it.
  8. It was more open up Google alert email than sleuthing, but thanks :-) I like this, too!
  9. It looks like Jeff is playing this festival: http://ellnoraguitarfestival.com/schedule.htm
  10. The printed set list had Spiders and I'm A Wheel in place of California Stars and Forget the Flowers.
  11. I'm at Amsterdam Ale House before the Beacon show and Red Eyed and Blue is playing.
  12. Excellent write up! Thanks for filling in all of these details and perfectly describing, what for me were, the highlights of the show.
  13. You're welcome. One feels a certain sense of responsibility when bbop is not in attendance.
  14. I always enjoy a show heavy on the Being There and AGIB selections. Tonight's set list satisfied that need. After Nels' well-deserved, prolonged ovation, one that took so long the band was already in position with their next instruments for Misunderstood, Jeff remarked "you guys are really excited to see that banjo." Jeff was a little goofy again tonight. He flashed Glenn during Hummingbird. No shimmy. Just stood there with his jacket open. As a veteran of NYC subways in the 80s it seemed location appropriate. At one point he promised he had been focused on performing , but that he couldn't
  15. A few additions to banter corner: During Hummingbird, during the part where Jeff sometimes dances or runs in place, he turned to Glenn, opened up his jacket, and started shimmying. It was hilarious and disturbing in equal measure. When they came out for (I think) the second encore, Jeff said he didn't think a moment of silence was appropriate for Chuck Berry and he asked us to make some noise. He then attempted Berry's famous duck walk, after which he commented that he was going to need a hip.
  16. I have one single available for the Tuesday night Beacon show Row L Seat 24. Face plus fees. PM me if interested.
  17. Clarification on Jeff's shirt. Underneath "we're all in this together " it said in finer print "except trump, he's a dick." His vocal delivery on Reservations and ALTWYS was so focused and intense and the guitar solo on the latter was so emotionally raw. These two songs were high points in last night's show for me.
  18. I see you're a glass half full type of person. Never lose that quality. 225 days to go!
  19. Thanks for your detailed descriptions of both the content and mood of the show, bbop. Glad you got to be there to experience much needed catharsis. I can't imagine a better place to be on a day like today. Art, and particularly music, is one of the few things that can lift us up, empower us and comfort us in times like these. It certainly did that for me today. Nobody can take that away from us. And like Jeff said, the only way we lose power is if we think we have none.
  20. This ticket is still available. I'm in danger of using it against my better judgement. Please save me from myself.
