I'm looking forward to this. Have never heard either show, and I'm a fan of Mason's Children.

I saw a great meme on Facebook for all the gun nuts. -
Just FYI, a lot of Ratdog shows are available on archive.org, many in soundboard.

Aw, come on, man, they were pretty much all in a blackout during those years. You can't count that!

http://www.nbcnews.com/pop-culture/celebrity/bernie-worrell-p-funk-keyboardist-dies-72-after-cancer-battle-n598846 Pretty good year so far for the Grim Reaper...not so good for the music world.

Some of their earliest shows were '72. Peak Jerry period for me. Edit: I posted that from my phone while away from my desk. Here are the dates of the '72 Jerry/Merl stuff I've got so far, all worth seeking out: 1/15/72 Keystone 1/19/72 Lion's Share 1/20/72 Lions's Share 2/6/72 - Pacific High Studio Other Keystone: 6/30/72, 9/1/72, 12/20/72 12/28/72 Lion's Share

I had a similar experience, including trying to get tickets for multiple shows which are in the voucher list. Freaking annoying. I don't have the time to go on there all the time and go through the process for nothing. Guess they're going to end up screwing me twice.

Any of you Dead fanatics familiar with the early Jerry & Merl Saunders shows? I've been listening to a ton of Dead boards lately, so I took a break and switched to some of these Jerry/Merl gems from '72 that I had downloaded but hadn't played yet. There's a Jesse Winchester song they do a couple times called Biloxi. I'd never heard it before. Dang, this might be the best thing I've heard all month! I freaking love it. Just when you think you've heard at least a few versions of everything old Jer did, another great ballad. I might just have to play that one again.

Good points...it was just very jarring to watch. I honestly haven't followed the campaign all that much, as I'm just too busy. And her voice kind of annoys me. So when I sat and watched this, I thought, "Holy cow, she's not exactly starting things in a conciliatory tone, is she?" You know, all that standard BS about reaching across the aisle and whatnot. It was not pleasant at all. -

Tuned in to MSNBC during lunch today, and Hillary was addressing Planned Parenthood. WTF? Look, I've been a huge supporter of PP, and am well aware of all the good they do. They are MOSTLY about getting birth control in people's hands, even if they can't afford to spend much on it, and about offering affordable OB/GYN exams to the uninsured. Well, I know that, but lots of other people fucking don't. They think PP is some sort of abortion factory - when in reality, abortions are a tiny fraction of the services they provide - but after all the controversy they have attracted in the last year or -
Do you care that Beck has a new album coming out
Mr. Heartbreak replied to KevinG's topic in Someone Else's Song
Nope. I like sad bastard Beck, not rapping Beck. -
I don't usually listen to audience recordings, but I'm such a '72 fanatic that I want to hear every show from that year. Today I heard most of the 6/17 show, which is apparently Pigpen's last, and also features the first Stella Blue. Really interesting, great stuff. https://archive.org/details/gd72-06-17.aud.hanno.16470.sbeok.shnf

I think Trump is naturally thin skinned, but it's exacerbated by the fact that he surrounds himself with sycophants. Anyone disagrees with him, he goes on the attack. And he clearly perceives the judge as an attacker. He would be a nightmare as a president.I've probably beaten this dead horse before, but I don't see how anyone thinks he's remotely qualified to be president. Couldn't he have run for city council first? Alderman? Mayor? Even governor or senator? The argument for him seems to be that he's a businessman. Okay, but he's a demonstrably shitty businessman, and besides, a country is n -
Dang, I hope the version of New Speedway is better on the album! I just watched a bit of Courtney B. performing it on Fallon. I didn't know it was possible to take one of Jerry's most dynamic songs and turn it into such a snoozefest. I honestly could not get past the first minute. Oh well. Not trying to be a buzzkill...if people dig it, that's cool. On the bright side, I see that Pink, of all people, has covered White Rabbit for the new Tim Burton movie. I saw a video of her playing it live in some park, and really did it justice! Pleasant surprise.
